The best season in recent memory for the Revere girls basketball team kept on moving Wednesday after the Patriots trounced a visiting Arlington team 51-27.Leading the way for Revere (6-7) were Christina Cavagnaro and Keri Roach. Cavagnaro led all scorers with 20 points, including hitting four treys.In addition to her season-high 12 points, Roach proved a rebounding and defensive force.”She (Roach) played her best game of the season for us,” said Revere coach Pam Call-McDonald. “She really played hard and in all parts of the game.”Coming out of the half with a 28-19 lead, the Spy Ponders managed to put together an early run to cut the Revere lead down to seven points. Rallying, Cavagnaro hit a three to put an end to the run and steal all the momentum back to the side of the Patriots.Also making their mark in the win were Morgan Jenkins with seven points and Nicole Kjersgard, who despite only showing up on the point sheet with two points, managed to control the boards for Revere.BOYS BASKETBALLCathedral 64, St. Mary’s 46At Lynn, it was one of those nights where the shots were just not falling as the host Spartans dropped their fourth game of the season.Tyler Grillo led the scoring for St. Mary’s (7-4) with 13 points, as Stephen Harper added 12 in the losing effort.Fenwick 73, NCC 64At North Cambridge Catholic, Mike Clifford dominated in the paint, scoring 29 points and pulling down 15 rebounds.The Crusaders (4-6) avenged a loss to NCC earlier in the season.Nolan DiPamfilo (20 points) also supplied some offense while Jake Borash nailed a couple of threes down the stretch to help the cause. He also had six rebounds.Peabody 53, Chelsea 46At Peabody, Mark Linehan (14 points) had the hot hand for the Tanners in the first half, scoring on his first four trips down the court.Kevin Skop kept things going with a 14-point game. He also got the job done defensively with three steals and seven rebounds.Chelsea scored 17 points in the first quarter and only 18 the entire second half.After starting the season 1-5, the Tanners are now 7-6 with Swampscott on tap next.SWIMMINGTech 94, Minuteman 82At Lynn, the Tigers won their second straight match and third of the season behind nine second-place finishes.Winning for Tech (3-5) were John Hines, 50 free (3:00.54); Yulia Shebalina, diving (112.05); and the 200 free relay, Matt Noonan, Hines, Fabricio Lopez, and Shebalina (2:11.9).BOYS TRACKGloucester 72, Salem 14At Gloucester, the Fishermen won every event except the relay.Austin Souza won the high jump (5-7); Mario Peritore, shot put (51-8); Alex Bigger-Allen, 50 hurdles (7.6); Luis Hernandez, 50 dash (5.5); Shane O’Neill, 300 (35.3); Alex Trotsky, 600 (1:20.7); Andrew Ryan, 1,000 (2:29.5); Liam Anastasia-Murphy, mile (4:35.8); and John Brancaleone, 2-mile (11:24).GIRLS TRACKGloucester 45, Salem 36At Gloucester, the Fishermen swept the 600, led by Jennavie Orrell (1:40.5).The other Gloucester winners were Isabel Pett in the high jump (5-2); Olivia Brown, shot put (27-7); Bryana Porter, 50 hurdles (7.9); Ali Monaco, 300 (44.8); and Abbie Rogers, 1,000 (3:03).Salem’s Ali Monaco won the 300; Jessica Ngo, the 50 (6.7); Syeda Raji, 2-mile (13:32); and Susie Barnes, mile (6:05.5).
