The undefeated Bishop Fenwick co-ed track team tuned up for its upcoming showdown against Marian with a 74-58 win over Cardinal Spellman Tuesday at the Reggie Lewis Center.With the win, the Crusaders improved to 4-0. Marian is also undefeated at 4-0, setting up a battle for the Catholic Central League title next Monday.Against Spellman, the girls had a successful night led by captain Ali Trainor, who won the 2-mile with a personal best time of 12:54. She was also the lead-off runner on the winning 4-x-100 relay team (4:30) and she took second in the high jump 4-2). Emily D’Iorio won the dash (8.2) and took third in the shot put (26-3). Lexi Culkeen led the shot put swee with a personal best of 36-9.Elly O’Leary finished first in the 1,000 with a personal best 3:12.The Fenwick boys didn’t fare as well despite a sweep in the mile and in the shot put. John Surabian won the mile (4:54), followed b Dan Crane (4:55) and Bill Harrington (5:00). Lucas Sobezenski won the shot put (43-4) with Mike Francis (41-3) and Cody Johnson (39-7) taking the next two spots.Although only the overall score of the meeting counts toward the record, the girls score would have been 52-16 Fenwick and the boys would have been 44-24, Spellman.St. John’s 49, Xaverian 46At the Reggie Lewis Center, the Eagles (3-1) pulled this one out of the fire with a win in the relay. The Prep trailed by two points heading into the final event, but won the race fairly comfortably with the team of Kevin Creedon, Matt Cullen, Jared Kaminski and Sean Hanlon (3:35.4).Michael Masse won the mile (4:34) and the 1,000-meter (2:36); Josh Tranfaglia, the shot put (46-6); Chris Grant, the high jump (5-9); Creedon, the 300 (37.8); Matt Chitro, high hurdles (8.12) and Hanlon, the 600 (1:26.5).BOYS BASKETBALLBC High 75, St. John’s 56At Danvers, the Eagles (5-5, 1-4 Catholic Conference) struggled despite solid games by Ryan O’Connell and Brendan Felder, who each had 13 points. Pickett won the bars (8.7), vaulting (8.9), the beam (9.3) and floor (9.5). Kathy Noon tied with Pickett on the bars and took third on the beam (8.6) and in floor (7.8). Alex Lemieux finished third in vaulting (8.4).
