LYNN – Jurors deciding the outcome of one of Gary Zerola’s rape cases continued with deliberations Thursday. The Lynn native, who became a prominent Boston prosecutor and attorney, stands accused of two separate rape cases in Massachusetts and another in Florida. He was once slated to star in the ABC television show “The Bachelor” and was named “Most Eligible Bachelor” by People magazine.Zerola, 36, is currently on trial for an alleged 2006 sexual assault that occurred in Boston. He is accused of trying to force a 19-year-old Newton college student to have sex with him following a day of extravagant shopping and drinks. After a jury returns with a verdict, Zerola will begin another sexual assault trial for the alleged incident that occurred in Boston in 2004. Like the 2006 case, the 2004 incident involves a woman who he met at a bar before an assault allegedly occurred in his Boston apartment. Prosecutors say he repeatedly raped the woman in 2004.While Zerola was free on bail in October 2007 after being charged with the Boston assaults, he traveled to Miami, Fla. – a violation of his terms of release – reportedly to attend a Patriots vs. Dolphins football game with his girlfriend. On that trip, Zerola was accused of sexually assaulting another young woman he met at a bar.Zerola was a prosecutor in the Essex and Suffolk district attorney offices before he opened his own law practice and represented several high profile defendants, including Blake Collella, who was represented by Zerola when he was acquitted of rape in 2006.
