DANVERS – Bishop Fenwick football coach Dave Woods and his coaching staff presented star running back Bobby Tarr with his No. 3 jersey at the team’s banquet Sunday at the Allenhurst, making him one of a handful of Crusaders who have had their numbers retired.Tarr, who was The Item’s Player of the Year at its all-star football dinner last month, completed a storybook career at Fenwick on as the state’s No. 2 all-time leading scorer. This fall, he ran for 2,547 yards on 253 carries, and caught eight passes for 80 yards. He scored 31 touchdowns and had 192 points, and was eastern Massachusetts’ leading scorer.Over his career, Tarr also had 19 receptions for 214 yards, scored 70 touchdowns, and totaled 426 points. As a junior, he scored 210 points. He holds every school rushing and scoring record.In addition, he is No. 2 on the state’s all-time rushing list and No. 8 on the state’s all-time scoring list, and he was a finalist for the Mass. Gatorade Player of the Year.The last Fenwick athlete to have his number retired was Sean Connolly, who is now the boys basketball coach.Tarr was named the teams Ralph LeDuc MVP at Sunday’s banquet. He was also presented – along with junior Dan Kennedy – with the Sal Tripoli Award as the most valuable player of the Thanksgiving game – a Fenwick win over Austin Prep.Other awards went to Dale Crispin, Defensive Player of the Year; T.J.
