Abby Gauthier goes on scoring sprees.The senior forward scored six goals Thursday to lead the St. Mary’s High girls hockey team to a 9-1 win over Matignon at Brockton.The offensive explosion brought Gauthier a little closer to becoming the state’s leading all-time (girls) scorer. She has 296 points and the record is 303. Gauthier had plenty of help from linemate Christen Hart, who had four assists. Hart reached a milestone of her own in collecting her 100th career assist.The Spartans played lights-out hockey from the get-go, scoring five first-half goals, with Gauthier accounting for four of them and Erin McAndrews scoring the other. It was much of the same in the second period. The Spartans scored four goals, the first two by Bridget Donovan and McAndrews, and the final two by Gauthier. Courtney Winters also had a productive night with four assists.St. Mary’s coach Frank Pagliuca said he made a few line adjustments and the result was a “dynamic” performance by Gauthier, Hart and Winters.”We really came out strong in the first period. We put a lot of pressure on them, and I think we kind of took them out of their game,” Pagliuca said.Kayla Shinnick faced 12 shots in the win.Archbishop Williams scored its goal in the third period. The Spartans (8-0) play Wakefield Saturday (6:40 p.m.) at Lynn.SWIMMINGMarblehead 104, Swampscott 71At Salem State, Marblehead’s 200-free relay team is comprised of all seniors, so it’s only fitting they did something to leave their mark on the program. The quartet, Catherine Rafferty-Millett, Caroline Caliri, Suzanne Foley and Caroline Belli, set a school record (girls)in the relay with a time of 1:45.42. The old record was 1:47.77.The Magicians also won the 200 medley relay (1:56.72), with Belli, Rafferty-Millett, Foley and Caliri.Caliri won the 200 free (1:06.23); Foley won the 200 individual medley (2:18.64); Ted Millett won the 50 free (2:30.7); Belli won the 100 back (1:02); Taylor Wright won the 100 breaststroke (1:10.75); and Chris Argiros, Wright, David Traynor and Millett won the 400 free relay (3:56.60).”This is always a great meet,” Marblehead coach Susan Guertin said. “The kids all know each other and it’s a rivalry.”Swampscott’s Sam Andler won the 100 butterfly (1:02.63) and Omri Bernstein won the 100 free (55.82). Among the first-place finishers were Emily Olson, 200 free (1:18.72); A.J. Capano, 50 free (25.22); and Chris Flores, 100 free (1:10.44).St. Mary’s also won the 200 free relay (2:03.99) with the team of Kathleen Cliff, Olson, Felicia Ruano and Veronica Collard.BOYS BASKETBALLEverett 71, Revere 55At Revere, the Patriots struggled with turnovers in the early going.
