The St. Mary’s boys basketball team found itself playing catch-up all night against Archbishop Williams, but the effort paid off with a 60-56 win at Braintree.The Bishops led by four at the half and by three after three quarters, but the Spartans had the firepower in the fourth. Tyler Grillo led the effort with 16 points and John Bakopolus checked in with 15 points. Bakopulos came up big when he stole the ball with 12 seconds remaining and then hit two free throws to put St. Mary’s up by two points.The Bishops had one more shot at tying the game, but no go. The Spartans’ Alex Mitchell scored with time running out for the four-point margin.”It was close the entire game. It was probably one of the best games in my tenure here,” St. Mary’s coach Kevin Moran said.St. Mary’s did a nice job on the boards led by Mitchell (11 rebounds) and Harpler. Jenna Henry took second in the 1,000 (3:30.3); Shakira Llewellyn, second in the 50, and Cara Crowley, second in the shot put (22-5 3/4).
