REVERE-A family of three pulled themselves out of their SUV after another car hit it, causing their vehicle to roll over at the intersection of Broadway and Mountain Avenue shortly after 9 p.m. Sunday, police said.Police and firefighters were still at the scene of the accident as of press time and were not able to release the identities of the people involved. No one was seriously injured when a Volkswagen Passat was traveling westbound on Mountain Avenue and collided with the family’s Toyota SUV that was heading northbound on Broadway (Route 107). The SUV then hit a parked Ford Explorer.Several witnesses said the Volkswagen didn’t stop at the stop sign before the two vehicles collided. One witness pointed out that the stop sign for westbound traffic on Mountain Avenue is bent in a slight upright position, possibly because of a previous minor accident.”Too many people miss that stop sign,” nearby resident Hugo Tejada said.Another witness, a nurse from a local hospital who asked not be identified in the newspaper, said four people were inside the SUV when it toppled ? not three as police had said. He described the children as two girls about three and 12 years old.The nurse said he immediately stopped his vehicle when he saw the accident.”It’s a moral obligation,” he said. “They came out (of the SUV) unscathed. There’s not a drop of blood anywhere.”Even though the victims’ injuries were described as minor, police said they did receive medical attention. No charges were filed against either driver last night and police said the accident is still under investigation.
