LYNN-The plan to broadcast City Council meetings into the comfort of the public?s living rooms is slowly moving forward according to Ken Kinna, executive director of Lynn Cable Access and Media (Lynn CAM).Kinna said the non-profit media station has made some progress in the quest to begin taping council meetings at City Hall.?We?re creeping along at a holiday pace,” he said. “We just got some early estimates and we?re trying to figure out where to find the money.”Kinna said it would cost roughly $15,000 to $20,000 to install cameras in City Hall to broadcast the meetings.?It?s really up to the board right now to see if we can do it or not, but some cities spend a lot more than that to set something up,” he said. “But we?ll try to find the money here and there.”The first City Council meeting of the year is scheduled for Jan. 15 at 8 p.m., however, Kinna said he wasn?t sure whether it would be taped as of yet.?It?s definitely feasible to do, but we haven?t gotten too far yet,” he said. “But we?re definitely going to get in there soon because it?s something that needs to be done.”Kinna said he plans to tour City Hall for a second time in the coming weeks to get a better idea of how cameras would work in the building and where they could be mounted.Alternatives include having one person man a camera at the meetings rather than installing several cameras, or paying for the project a little at a time.Kinna previously mentioned that he would also seek monetary help from local businesses to sponsor the meetings.
