LYNN-A quick response by Lynn police Sunday night resulted in the capture of a Chelsea shooting suspect.Christopher Alan Nodal, 23, of Davie, Fla., was arrested and charged with carrying a firearm without a license, unlawful possession of ammunition and possession of a class D drug (marijuana) shortly after 11:30 p.m. Sunday at the home of a friend on High Street. That friend, Marisol Arroyo, 27, of 19 High St. #2, Lynn, was also arrested and charged with driving with a suspended license. At about 11:15 p.m. Sunday, Lynn police were notified that Nodal and Arroyo might be heading to Arroyo’s home after fleeing a shooting scene on Willow Street in Chelsea.Nodal allegedly fired a single gunshot from a moving pickup truck at Arroyo’s younger brother as Arroyo was behind the wheel.Chelsea police said the situation started when a birthday party at a Willow Street residence went bad.As Nodal and others were drinking and socializing he got upset with a question someone asked him, witnesses reportedly told police. Nodal allegedly responded by asking the other man if he “liked the cold pipe,” which the victim interpreted as a threat to shoot him.Minutes later, after Nodal and Arroyo left the party together in Arroyo’s pickup truck, her 22-year-old brother became concerned and began to run after the truck in an attempt to stop it, police said.As the car was traveling up the block, Nodal allegedly leaned out the window and fired one shot at Arroyo’s brother.Chelsea police noted that no spent shell casings were found at the scene.Almost immediately after the alleged shooting, Chelsea police notified Lynn police that the vehicle might be headed to Arroyo’s High Street home, which it later did.Officers were already observing Arroyo’s home from an adjacent parking lot when she and Nodal turned onto High Street and they were pulled over, police said.Police asked Nodal if there were any weapons in the vehicle and he allegedly replied, “No.”However, police said they found an unloaded semi automatic Glock nine-millimeter handgun in the glove compartment. Officers also found a 10-round magazine containing nine 9-mm rounds of ammunition, according to police.Police also found a bag of a green/brown leafy substance believed to be marijuana inside the vehicle, police said.Nodal was arraigned in Lynn District Court on Monday and ordered by Judge Michael Lauranzano held on $25,000 cash bail. A pre-trial hearing is scheduled for Jan. 11.Arroyo’s arraignment was delayed until Tuesday but she was released from jail on personal recognizance.Arroyo has several prior criminal charges and has been arraigned in Eastern Massachusetts courtrooms at least five times since 2002, according to court documents. On Dec. 18, 2006, Arroyo was charged in Lynn with being a compulsory violator of motor vehicle insurance and forgery of Registry of Motor Vehicle Documents. She was charged with illegal possession of a stun gun in Quincy in Oct. 2006, shoplifting in Malden in Oct. 2005, prostitution in Chelsea in July 2004 and motor vehicle violations in Lynn in Oct. 2002.Arroyo also has a tattoo on her back that says “marijuana” and another on her right arm that says “skittlez,” according to a police report.
