LYNN ? It is being heralded as a breakfast of chamber champions.When the Lynn Area Chamber of Commerce gathers its members on Wednesday, Dec. 19, at the Knights of Columbus, 177 Lynnfield St., six individuals or organizations will be recognized with Business Excellence Awards.Nominations were due on Nov. 23 and chamber judges are currently sifting through them. The awards honor the advancement of responsible business leadership in the chamber’s membership area and publicly recognize local businesses for demonstrating a passion for excellence.Those nominated should demonstrate a commitment to the community, staff development and entrepreneurship. Nominees will be reviewed by the chamber’s Board of Directors and judged on their demonstration of these core values, according to chamber communications manager JoAnn Power.The awards include Businessperson of the Year, given to someone who has demonstrated excellence in business practices through customer service, product, ethical business practices, community involvement and marketing. This person must have made a significant impact in the community and demonstrated commitment.The Community Service Award goes to the chamber member who has had an outstanding record of community service, including volunteer participation in community improvement organizations.The Non-Profit Business of the Year Award is given annual to a local non-profit organization that has been effective at improving the quality of life in the community it serves.The City Pride Award is given to the municipal employee who has gone above and beyond their duties.The Hall of Fame Award goes to the business leader with a history of success in business and commitment to the Greater Lynn business community. This individual must have a demonstrated record of accomplishments in business, civic and community endeavors.The Richard J. Rehal President’s Award winner is chosen by the chamber president and given to the individual who has shown dedication to the organization.All businesses in Lynn, Lynnfield, Nahant and Swampscott are eligible for these awards, Power said.Columbia Insurance Agency is the lead event sponsor, while the DiVirgilio Financial Group and North Shore Community College are presenting sponsors.
