Amy has a lot of wishes this holiday season. She wishes she hadn’t been so rebellious when she was a young girl. She wishes she had heeded the words of wisdom spoken to her by her elders and she wishes she had thought things through when she was just a girl. Now older and wiser, she said all she is wishing for is a little help to give her children a little Christmas.”I know it is too late for those wishes,” she wrote in a letter to Item Santa. “I can only try to instill the knowledge into my children’s thoughts.”A mother of four, Amy said life took a turn for the worse in July and has yet to right itself. She said now she would be lucky if she can give her children even one or two gifts without a little holiday help.It is important to her to ask for this help because she said despite the sacrifices the family has had to make, and she adds, there have been a lot, her children have remained her rock. Despite the situation, which Amy declines to detail, that was sprung upon them, “my children have been surprisingly strong.”Because of that, she wishes nothing more than to see them as happy as she and her brother were on Christmas when they were young.”I really miss those days,” Amy adds. What Amy is not looking for, however, is a handout. She wants to pay for what she receives in the only way she can at the moment, with faith.Amy promises she will continue to do good deeds daily, and help where she can and she will contribute as often as possible to the Salvation Army’s collection in the coming years. To make a donation to Item Santa, clip the coupon in today’s Item or download one and mail it, along with your check, to The Item Salvation Army Santa, P.O.
