NSMT plans celebration to kick off the holiday season on Nov. 30

BEVERLY ? Holiday festivities at North Shore Music Theatre in Beverly will get under way on Nov. 30 with a free “Holiday Illumination.”NSMT invites patrons, families, and friends to the official start of the holiday season. This celebration, which runs from 4 p.m. until 7 p.m., is free and open to the public. Highlights include festive decorations and lights, a tree lighting ceremony, delicious holiday confections, hands-on holiday crafts, appearances by cast members of “A Christmas Carol,” a sing-a-long led by the NSMT Academy Choir, and readings of “A Christmas Carol” featuring members of the cast.?A Christmas Carol”, which is one of the North Shore’s most beloved holiday traditions, also opens that evening.The show, in its 19th year, will be at NSTM from Nov. 30 through Dec. 23.Victorian England is brought to life in an original musical adaptation of Charles Dickens’ classic tale of Ebenezer Scrooge’s Christmas journey to redemption. Tickets for the show range from $35 to$70.Throughout the run of “A Christmas Carol” the NSMT will be collecting toys in the lobby for “Tiny Tim’s Toy Drive.” Toys should be new, unwrapped and appropriate for children between the ages of 2 and 12. The toys will be donated to Beverly Children’s Learning Center, Beverly Bootstraps, and Headstart of Peabody.Other upcoming events at NSMT include “A Festival of Music” on Dec. 17 at 7:30 p.m. Ring in the spirit of the holidays as you sing along with your favorite songs and carols during “A Festival of Music.” This concert will include performances by The North Shore Philharmonic, the New England Conservatory Community Gospel Choir, the NSMT Academy Choir, and the new NSMT Children’s Choir, featuring students from 8 n 14 years old.?We invite the community to spend the evening with us and to celebrate the wonderful music of the holiday season,” said Jon Kimbell, NSMT’s Executive Producer and Artistic Director. “We are thrilled to welcome back the North Shore Philharmonic Orchestra, who is celebrating their 60th anniversary this year, and to introduce our patrons to the exhilarating sounds of the New England Conservatory Community Gospel Choir and the NSMT Children’s Choir in their premiere performance on the NSMT stage. This is a concert for all ages to enjoy. Bring your family and your friends!”The holiday event will include a mix of traditional and contemporary holiday music, including selections from “The Polar Express,” A Chanukah Medley, and The Nutcracker Suite, as well as other holiday favorites celebrating the spirit of the season.
