SALEM – The Lynn man accused of a double shooting on Western Avenue this summer will have to come up with $75,000 cash in order to get out of the Middleton Jail pending trial.Onesis M. Phil-lips, 27, of 26 Harwood St., Apt. 11, appeared Thursday in Salem Superior Court answering not guilty to two counts of armed assault with intent to murder and a single count of carrying a firearm without a license.Judge Howard J. Whitehead agreed to set the same bail amount as set earlier in district court at the joint request of the prosecutor and defense.However, the defense may seek a bail review at another date.Charges stem from an incident in Lynn on July 16 when he allegedly shot John L. Close, III, 24, and his brother Javan Close, 23.According to reports, Phillips allegedly shot the brothers in front 526 Western Ave., leaving Javan Close lying wounded on the sidewalk and John shot in the right arm.The case was continued by agreement to Nov. 19 for a pretrial conference.Assistant District Attorney Michael A. Patten is the prosecuting lawyer in the case.
