SALEM – A Salem man was arrested Wednesday a short time after he allegedly used a weapon to rob a bank while wearing white face paint.Philip Canale, 40, of 40 Ward St., was arrested and charged with armed robbery and three warrants.Police said Canale walked into the Beverly Co-Op Bank at the corner of Lafayette and New Derby Streets shortly before 3 p.m. demanding money from the teller.Witnesses described the suspect as dressed like a clown. Police confirmed the suspect was wearing white face make up during the robbery.Police said the suspect made off with an undisclosed amount of cash before being arrested.? Dan O’Brien
