LYNN-A scary few hours for a Lynn father had a happy ending Tuesday after his missing 13-year-old son turned up safe and sound in downtown Salem.The father called Lynn police around 6:30 p.m. to report his son had not come home after school. The family lives on Houghton Street.Police began scouring the area for clues and finally discovered the boy was last seen boarding MBTA bus #450, which is the Haymarket Square, Boston-to-Salem route.According to police, the missing boy is from Somalia and has only lived in the United States for a month. He moved to his dad’s house in Lynn after his mother died back home.Police were very concerned because the boy, a Thurgood Marshall Middle School student, does not yet speak English.At about 8:50 p.m., police and the boy’s father finally got the news they were looking for. A downtown Salem candy store employee, who speaks Somalian, found the lost boy sitting in front of her shop.When police arrived at Maria’s Sweet Somethings on Front Street, the woman said she found the boy sitting at a table in front of the store and he appeared to be cold.She said she invited him inside and fed him milk and cookies, then called police. He was reunited with his dad a short time later.
