Nomination for North of Boston Businesswomen of the Year will be accepted through Oct. 12.The seventh annual North of Boston Businesswomen of the Year Awards will be held Nov. 8 at North Shore Community College, 300 Broad St. on Route 1A, in the McGee Building, from 7:30-9 a.m.The breakfast format marks a departure from the traditional luncheon and was decided in order to better accommodate the schedules of busy professionals.The Daily Item, in partnership with Eastern Bank and Platinum level sponsors NSCC and the General Electric Co. have presented the awards for the past six years.The Item is now accepting nominations for the awards which are presented in honor of Lydia E. Pinkham. The awards in her name recognize the achievements of one woman in each of three categories: small business, with 1-49 employees; large business, with 50 or more employees; and nonprofit or civic organizations.Recommendations for nominations can be submitted by anyone by completing a form on the Web site www.womenbizawards.com by Oct. 12. Each recommendation should include the woman’s name and as much contact information as possible. Those nominated will receive a letter asking them to participate in the awards program. Nominations are based on integrity, character, professional accomplishments and community service. Those who accept will receive a ticket to the event and a listing in the program.Those attending the event will hear from keynote speaker Patricia Maguire Meservey, Ph.D., the new president of Salem State College and former provost and academic vice president at Suffolk University in Boston.The Daily Item is also currently seeking local businesses to sponsor the event, provide two $1,000 scholarships to NSCC, and to offer resources to develop further the network of women and women in business.The Item will publish the awards program in support of the event on Nov. 7, which features profiles of nominees and sponsors.The advertising deadline is Oct. 25.
