Fat Tuesday celebration slated in Lynn’s Central Square

LYNN – The musical strains of New Orleans may waft into Central Square on Tuesday, Feb. 20, when a Mardi Gras celebration with live jazz gets under way at LynnArts.The Central Square Collaborative and the Lynn Area Chamber of Commerce will jointly present a Mardi Gras Celebration and Business After Hours event at the LynnArts gallery, 25 Exchange St. in Central Square, from 5-8 p.m.The live jazz kicks off at 6:30 p.m. with The Tony Gallo Group, featuring Herman Johnson on saxophone. Jazz art sculptures by John Vasapoli of North Reading will also be on display, according to LynnArts events coordinator Steve Negron.Johnson has been the house musician at Ryles Jazz Club in Cambridge for more than 20 years.The special occasion will feature hors d’ oeuvres and cash bar. Admission is $10. Seating is limited to 100.
