  • Smoking – If you smoke, make sure you do so in areas where it is not prohibited. Or if you smoke, make sure it is only fire-safe cigarettes. Since fires and deaths result from fires that have started in a living/family rooms, or bedrooms, it is better to smoke outside instead. Wayne Alarm: Tips for a pet-friendly home

SAFETY TIP OF THE DAY

SPONSORED BY WAYNE ALARM AND HONEYWELL.

Our four-legged fur friends are not just pets, but a part of our families. Their safety is just as important as ours. Whether is making sure they get enough nutrition in their food or ensuring pavements are not too hot or cold to protect their paws, their safety is just as important. Follow along for some pet-friendly protocols to have in your homes for their safety:

  1. The best way to minimize damage is to create a space just for your furry friend. This helps acclimate and dog friendly near their bed can make a difference.
  2. Dogs enjoy hiding and running around and it can sometimes be too dangerous for them. The best way to prevent them from running out unsupervised is with deadbolts on doors, locks on windows and even baby gates on stairs. Cabinet doors should also maintain secure with latches, as it can cause your dog to get trapped in the cabinet.
  3. Get rid of dangerous items that they can reach and bite such as electrical cords by using cords protectors. Safely store detergents and other household cleaners in locked cabinets or high on a shelf. Be aware that trash cans can also be dangerous for their consumption, consider a closed-lid trash can instead. Prevent falls and kitchen fires by not allowing pets in the kitchen when cooking or when stove is on.
  4. Invest in a video surveillance security to keep track of what your dog does at home when you are not around. View live footage of your pets from work or anytime you are away from home, ensuring they are okay and not in any danger.
  5. It is common for pets to accidentally trigger home security motion detectors and cause false alarms. This is dangerous because an emergency personnel may not know if it is a real threat or if a pet triggered the alarm. The best way to prevent this is to ensure your system accommodates animals during the installation stage.

For additional safety information and security system installation, contact Wayne Alarm by calling us at: 781-595-0000 or visiting us online at www.waynealarm.com.

Wayne Alarm: Be safe in your apartment

SAFETY TIP OF THE DAY

SPONSORED BY WAYNE ALARM AND HONEYWELL.

Apartment fire are much more common than we all might like to think, which is a little frightening to think about. Whether your residence is a single-family home or an apartment, it’s important to take the calm and proper steps that can save your life. The majority of fire are results of kitchen/cooking, heating equipments such as space heaters, and even arson which includes children at times playing with fire.

So you might ask yourself: Well, I live in an apartment. What can I do if I’m ever in this situation?

Performing a fire inspection and ensuring that everything is up-to-code can make a big difference. Here are some tips to ensure you are prepared and safe in case of any fire emergency:

Make sure all exit and stairwell doors are marked, not locked or blocked by security bars.
It’s very important to know the locations of all exit stairs from your floor level, in case you need to get out in an emergency.
If there are not a number of adequate working smoke detectors and fire extinguishers, contact your landlord.
If ever stuck inside your apartment and you can’t find any exit, try to stuff wet towels or sheets around the door and vents. This helps to keep the smoke out.
Here are some ways to ensure that you stay safe on a daily basis throughout your apartment:

Don’t leave cooking food unattended
Always ensure that your stove or oven is off if you’re not in the room or leaving your apartment. It’s also very, very important to never use your oven as a source to heat your home.
Make sure there’s a three feet distance with household combustibles from heating equipments: space heaters, fireplace, or wood stoves. In addition turn portable heaters off when leaving a room or going to bed.
Replace any worn electrical cords. Use power strips if additional outlets are needed.
If using an electric space heater, use a heavy-duty cord of 14-gauge wire or larger. Otherwise, avoid using one at all cost.
Test smoke alarms at least once a month.
Unless specified, don’t use electric space heaters in damp, wet areas.
It’s very important to always be aware of using the right kind of fuel, specified by the manufacturer, for fuel burning space heaters.

In case you ever do find yourself in a fire:

Always check doors before opening them. If the door feels cool, open it slowly and stay low to the ground and leave the building as soon as possible. If the door is warm, use wet towels or beddings to seal the door and vets. Proceed to a window, and if there is no smoke outside, signal for help. If you are able to, call 9-1-1 and make them aware that you are trapped in the building.

Don’t ever use an elevator during a fire. Always use the stairs!

Wayne Alarm: Danger of carbon monoxide

SAFETY TIP OF THE DAY

SPONSORED BY WAYNE ALARM AND HONEYWELL.

Home Security ranges from having a burglar system to proper smoke and carbon monoxide systems. Wayne Alarm system wants to make sure that people not only have the correct carbon monoxide alarms set up in their homes but that they are also informed about the dangers that it can create.

Once carbon monoxide (CO) is breathed in, it actually replaces the oxygen in your blood, killing cells and starving vital organs. One of the biggest problems with CO is that it has no taste, smell and as humans our bodily senses cannot detect it. Without sufficient CO detectors installed in your home, you place you and your family in very serious danger.

CO gets produced whenever a material in your home starts to burn. Particularly homes that have fuel-burning appliances or attached garages are apt to have more CO issues. Some of the more frequent sources in which CO gets produced in our homes is from:

  • Furnaces/boilers
  • Ovens/gas stoves
  • Motor Vehicles
  • Fireplaces
  • Clothes dryers
  • And much more

It is estimated that around 500 people each year in the U.S. die from unintended CO exposure. The good news comes from the fact that carbon monoxide poisoning can be prevented with installing CO alarms in your home and having them professionally monitored by Wayne Alarm Systems.

For more information about Carbon Monoxide systems, please feel free to contact us. We can be reached over the phone at 781-595-0000 or through our online contact form at www.waynealarm.com.

Wayne Alarm: Spring security check-ups

SAFETY TIP OF THE DAY

SPONSORED BY WAYNE ALARM AND HONEYWELL.

Regular maintenance can help increase the life expectancy of your alarm system and insurance coverage, too. It is known that  security providers require monthly or yearly maintenance. However, you can do a self-maintenance as well. Older systems should be checked every three months, whereas newer systems are checked every six months. When doing check-ups, remember to notify your provider that it is just a test, so emergency support aren’t dispatched.

  • Fire and Smoke Detectors – According to The National Fire Alarm Code, smoke detector are required to be inspected annually. To ensure its proper functionality, check it by pressing and holding the button labeled “test.” In doing so, an alarm will sound. Remember to always follow along to the instructions instructed in the manual that can also give you help in keeping it up to date. Another tip is cleaning it with a vacuum cleaner(at least once a year) to remove any particles that couple affect the smoke alarm performance.
  • Video Surveillance –  If using video surveillance is one of your top security strategies, it can definitely use regular maintenance. To ensure a clear picture and uninterrupted feed, clean off the camera lens with a lens wipe and cleaner, and simply dust the camera’s exterior clean. Check daily for correct date and time that is often displayed on the monitor, sometimes brief power outages might require it to be reset.

Checking your system in your business is just as important, too.

  • Checking fire alarms in your businesses is just as important. Have it inspected to check if everything is up to date. If it is not being tested regularly, it could be more susceptible to false alarms.

Regularly checking if your security system is functioning properly can make a huge difference and can be useful in a time of emergency. Don’t hesitate to check on your system today, and reach our customer service for further questions.

Wayne Alarm: Pet safety

SAFETY TIP OF THE DAY

SPONSORED BY WAYNE ALARM AND HONEYWELL.

With summertime here and in the midst of hot weather, it’s important to think about our pet’s safety. Things that effect our pets can sometimes not affect us, so it can be easy to forget about protecting our animals. Little things that can go unnoticed to humans can be dangerous for animals, so it’s important to be informed on any danger possible.

Watch What They Get Fed

If you’re having a cookout or friends over, always be on the lookout for someone offering your animal people food. Many people think it’s a treat, while in reality it can make your dog very sick. Leave treats out for anyone that wants to play or reward the dog to ensure they won’t get sick.

Supervise Them in Water

Whether you’re at the pool or on the lake, always keep an eye out for your animal. It is very easy for dogs to get exhausted, and struggle to keep afloat. Treat your animal like a child, and never leave them unattended. Until your animal is a proven swimmer, it might even be a good idea to give them a special animal life jacket, especially out at sea.

Hot Pavement

Temperatures on the ground can exceed 145 degrees, but we wear shoes so it’s not a problem for us. However, dog’s paws are in serious danger during these temperatures. You should place your hand or bare foot on the ground for a minimum of 10 seconds to feel if it’s a comfortable temperature. Plan your walks for early morning or late evenings to avoid the heat at its peak. In the event of it being too hot, it’s a good idea to purchase a pair of booties to comfortably walk your dog.

Constant Water

This should be an obvious one, but many people seem to forget, always leave your animal with water. Dehydration and heat stroke can sneak up on animals, so it’s important to always provide your animal with clean, fresh water. When going on walks, bring water bottles with you just for your dog. Some signs of dehydration in your dog is sunken eyes, dry gums and loss of energy. If you think your animal has these symptoms, contact your vet.

Car Safety

Never under any circumstances leave your animal locked in the car. The temperature of a car rises 40 degrees in an hour, with 80 percent of the increase coming within the first 30 minutes. Opening windows has almost no impact on the temperature rise. If you see a dog stuck inside of a car on a hot day, please alert the authorities.

Fur Care

Sometimes pet owners can forget about grooming your animal, but during the summer months it’s a necessity. Animals are more active in the nice weather, but so are insects. Ticks and fleas can very easily latch on to your animal, so it’s important to brush and inspect them. Trimming your animal’s fur is a good way to deter against the heat, but be sure to leave at least an inch to protect their skin from the sun.

Wayne Alarm: The new smart chip?

SAFETY TIP OF THE DAY

SPONSORED BY WAYNE ALARM AND HONEYWELL.

EMV Cards, Smart Chips, Chip Cards, no one really knows what to call them right now, but we know they are the future of deferring fraudulent credit card charges. EMV stands for Europay, MasterCard and Visa, which are the companies that have developed and implemented the new card technology. Instead of swiping your card through the side of the machine like we’re used to, you now insert it into the bottom of the machine. Which will greatly reduce the risk of credit/debt card theft.

When you swipe your ordinary card with a magnetic stripe, it contains the same information stored on the card as before and will never change, making it rather susceptible to fraud. One breach and the thief can have continued access to your card. However with the new EMV Chips, a unique transaction code is created every time you use it, making it nearly impossible to continue the use of the card for thieves. In the event of a system breach, they would see the information of the card from that one purchase, which would no longer work because of the change in code. If you have not received an EMV Card, contact your bank and ask. Make the switch to EMV Cards to ensure your protection and prevent fraud.

Wayne Alarm: Small business security tips

SAFETY TIP OF THE DAY

SPONSORED BY WAYNE ALARM AND HONEYWELL.

In 2010 there were roughly 28 million small businesses in the entire United States of America. While this number has fluctuated within the past 6 years, the fact is that we have a ton of small businesses out there. As a small business owner, so much of your time, money and energy has been developed to simply make your business run every day.

Whether you are providing a service or product, staying on top of your business security is extremely important. Below are some tips that you should make sure are implemented into your business plans.

Adequate Lighting: Having enough lighting is very important for not only inside your building but it’s also important for the outside of your building. During the night and especially when you leave, be sure that you have enough lighting both inside and outside of your business. Lighting which covers your doorways and parking lots will help keep away any potential threats.

Emergency Plans: Whether you are at home or in the office, you should always have emergency plans for different situations. Know what to do in the case of fire, robberies, theft, or major storms.

You should also keep your team in the loop so they understand and know what to do in each situation.

Strong Passwords: People often use passwords that are easy to remember but stay away from obvious ones that others can guess. Also, try to change them up. 47 percent of people actually use the same password for 5 straight years, so other people most likely know what you are using.

Public Wifi: You may not know it, but public Wifi is extremely unsafe for mobile devices. Hackers can actually go through it to attack person accounts. Never do any of your banking and online transactions on a public network.

Video Surveillance: Video cameras placed in and outside of your business are extremely helpful in order to give you proper security, limited shrinkage, improved customer service as well as other operational efficiencies.

Burglar & Theft Protection: When your business is closed and everyone is home for the night, it’s important that someone is looking out for you. With a Wayne Alarm security systems, your business can be monitored 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.

Wayne Alarm: Questions to ask your landlord

SAFETY TIP OF THE DAY

SPONSORED BY WAYNE ALARM AND HONEYWELL.

There are often important questions that you should be asking that you could forget about. Develop a checklist and take it with you to ensure that everything is how you want it. Below are some important safety questions that you should be asking before you move in.

Are The Appliances Working Properly?

It is extremely frustrating when you move into a new apartment to just realize that important appliances aren’t working the way they should. When checking out a home or apartment make sure that the burner, refrigerator and water tanks work.

Are Draperies, Blinds Or Curtains Included?

Windows treatments aren’t always included when you move into a new place. Sometimes they are and other times they are not. Be sure to check because you don’t want strangers looking in your home and seeing all your valuables.

Have The Locks Been Updated?

You want to be sure that nobody else has a key to your home. Ask your landlord if the locks have been changed before you move in.

How Are The Surrounding Apartments?

Getting some insight about who your close neighbors will be can make a difference. If you can find this information out, ask about children, pets, activities, what your neighbors do for a living, and more. This is especially the case if you live in an apartment complex as you will be interacting with these people more.

How’s The Lighting?

Ask your landlord about lighting but we also advise you to check out the complex at night. Proper lighting can make a big difference.

Do you have a fire extinguisher?

Make sure that your apartment comes with a fire extinguisher. If it doesn’t have one then consider buying one in the case of an emergency.

Is there currently a security system at your new place? Security systems not only provide safety and security for you and your family, but also saves about 10-15% on your home insurance.  Today they are much more than just security systems. You can control your lights, thermostat, video cameras, and more all thru your Wayne Alarm System. If you don’t have one, call us today at 781-595-0000 or email sales@waynealarm.com

Asking simple but extremely important questions such as these can make a big difference. When you are moving into a new place you more than ever want to know that you’re safe.

SAFETY TIP OF THE DAY

SPONSORED BY WAYNE ALARM AND HONEYWELL.

Security Alarm Systems are a great way to help protect your home in the event that a burglar is to break into your house. There are a also a wide range of additional improvements that you can do to help make you safer. When targeting specific homes, burglars often look for homes that have plenty of covering such as shrubs and traditional fences. When it comes to fencing, are you as protected as you would like?

If you currently have a fence or are looking to install one, what can you do to improve your home security?

  • Make sure that your fence goes all the way around your yard instead of just being placed down as a decoration.
  • Be sure that your fence has a good locking mechanism so people can’t reach their arms around to open up the door.
  • To ensure that burglars cannot get under your fence, make sure that it’s secured with concrete pillars if possible.
  • To restrict any climbing you can add spear tops, razor wires or any-climb spikes.

Types Of Fencing

Some of the more popular fencing types include wood, chain link, wrought iron, PVC, & much more. Listed below are some of the more popular ones used for home security.

Wood: Being one of the more popular fencing options, wood provides good privacy due to its height and isn’t see through.

Aluminum: This maintenance free options is also a very attractive and popular option. These fences are used barred though which means that people can usually see into your property. But, you’ll still have a great amount of safety & security.

PVC Fencing: This is the most affordable fencing option.  Also, with the material being made out of PVC, you’ll learn that the material is able to handle harsh climates.

When installing a fence, each person may have their own reasons for doing so. From security and privacy to aesthetics, be sure that you weigh what’s important to you. Do further research on materials of fencing and how it will be laid out.

Wayne Alarm: Why you should upgrade today

SAFETY TIP OF THE DAY

SPONSORED BY WAYNE ALARM AND HONEYWELL.

Life changes – a new home, different financial situations, kids – often times prompt questions about our lifestyle and if security systems in our homes are good enough. Taking time to assess your systems and making sure they are still up to date, making sure they are still a good fit for your home, is important in order to have a stress-free life.

Most of the time, in the span of a year, exploitable vulnerabilities are likely to have been discovered. Technology advances so quickly that we never truly notice when it becomes outmoded. Criminals love older technology because they are fully aware of its weaknesses and where the systems are easy to crack through. Many security system owners also don’t realize that it’s more expensive to use landlines solely for the purpose of their security system, or that landlines can easily be disabled by criminals. Technology has improved security systems and, because of every change that it brings, an upgrade becomes necessary. With an advance use in touch compatibility, security systems that provide touch can bring a major boost to your home because it caters to your preferences whether it uses voice control, which allows for a safer use on the system, or even systems that alert you when it needs maintenance. Technology itself has allowed creators to think out of the box and provide home owners with better equipped systems that are more efficient to run and operate, as well as easier to use. For instance, most advanced systems provide access that can correct human errors such as forgetting to put it on, or even having the ability to check it remotely.

Although we never know what could happen, it’s important to be prepared by upgrading. Allowing you to feel comfortable knowing that your home security will do its job properly, the updated security systems can make a difference in your home and with technology advances, it puts your home out of harm’s way.

Wayne Alarm: Free apps to increase security

SAFETY TIP OF THE DAY

SPONSORED BY WAYNE ALARM AND HONEYWELL.

With mobile apps making our lives easier, there has been a growth within the app industry to provide more protection to our lives simply by using our mobile devices. All of these apps are free and compatible with Android and IOS.

  1.     NowSecure Mobile: We all know that companies and even sites such as Facebook can look through and collect our data. In order to protect yourself against unwanted threat, download NowSecure Mobile app. It monitors your phone’s operating system, network and other apps for security vulnerabilities, all while generating a code to protect your phone.
  2.     Companion: Even if they don’t have the app downloaded, Companion is great to allow friends and family, even your local police, see where you are when heading to your designation with a simple invite. The most important aspect the app provides, however, is the 15 second alarm called Smart Trigger, which checks in to make sure you are safe and, if by any chance you don’t respond within those 15 seconds, alerts your companions.
  3.     As the Internet continues to expand, public Wi-Fi has become a threat to personal information. A threat that experts say can be easily intercepted. Skycure, however, is an app that performs tests on wireless networks so that there are no breaches and sends you notifications on any cyber attacks you might reach. It is advanced enough to keep track of the locations of those networks so it can then prevent from hurting apps within your mobile device or other app users.
  4.     Lookout, an all-around security app, allows you to find a lost or misplaced phone and backup data. Lookout also warns you about other security risks: notifies you about how to improve your phone’s security settings, tells you which apps are tracking your phone or revealing your location, and uses machine intelligence to detect threats.
  5.    Although it’s more compatible with IOS 4.3 or later, Webroot SecureWeb is a great mobile browser that uses URL filtering to protect users from malicious websites. It automatically syncs with the company’s URL reputation database for protection and, search results are made to note safe and risky sites.

Wayne Alarm: What small businesses should know

SAFETY TIP OF THE DAY

SPONSORED BY WAYNE ALARM AND HONEYWELL.

When starting a small business, safety concerns and state, or federal regulations for your business can be overwhelming. To help your business thrive, here are a few regulations to keep in mind:

  1. Client’s personal information should always be private and should be an important issue to have. In 2010, The Massachusetts Data Protection Plan created stricter and stronger privacy regulations. It allows businesses that collect and retain personal information from its customers to be seriously implemented. Personal information including social security number, driver’s license numbers, and financial accounts that include debit or credit card numbers can create a huge risk of unwanted private breaches. It is an issue that many small businesses aren’t aware of and should be at the top of their concerns in learning ways to prevent it, by ensuring employees are regularly proceeding with the rules given.
  2. Computers. Computers can easily be breached and hacked if precautions are not taken. It’s important to follow compliances such as following Windows update for operating system patches or using daily antivirus software to ensure that your computer system is not functioning as it should, but also being checked for possible malfunctions or breaches.
  3.  Credit card fraud has been known to be one of the top reasons for identity thefts. As of October of 2016, measures were put into place to increase the use of chip cards, giving customers and clients double security. This change allowed a decrease in the possibility of fraud from issuing banks to merchants who have yet to install EMV terminals.
  4.  4. The renovation, repair, and painting rule for public and commercial buildings is a rule that covers residential housing and is now being expanded to commercial buildings. While it is issued to protect people from exposure of lead dust, it’s main concern is towards small business. Small businesses who operate their business outside of their homes, or own the buildings where their business is located can face higher costs as well.

Wayne Alarm: Why Medical Alert is best

SAFETY TIP OF THE DAY

SPONSORED BY WAYNE ALARM AND HONEYWELL.

Grandma has been feeling ill for quite some time now, and living home alone doesn’t give you or your family  peace of mind. What if you’re currently at work, kids are at school, and grandma had an accident and fell? What if she had no way of being able to reach you or call for help. It’s a situation we don’t want to have to deal with and it’s an event we all want to prevent. How can she reach out in case of an emergency? How can you know if she’s okay? How will she be able to alert you when she needs help?

Today, with technological advances, we are able to find ways to help in situations like this while being in control of our outcome.

When needed, professional Medical Life Alert operators are able to aid in assistance at anytime, from anywhere. With 24/7 monitoring, they standby at a local monitoring station. The easy-to-access emergency button provided immediately alerts the Wayne Alarm Alarm Monitoring Central Station. The best part about it, if you or your loved one are in another room or enjoying the outdoors, a wireless remote activator allows you to activate the system when you are away from the main receiver.

At the moment of alert, you’ll be in contact with a dispatcher giving you high quality communication that allows you to be heard clearly from any room, regardless of the distance. In the time being, an appropriate emergency personnel is then contacted and dispatched to your aid wherever help is needed.

Our loved ones can now have the ability to have more freedom and independence within their home, even while still having the help of a qualified and trained group of professionals standing by whenever you need help. Wayne Alarm: Security tips kids should know

SAFETY TIP OF THE DAY

SPONSORED BY WAYNE ALARM AND HONEYWELL.

There are times when we must leave our kids home alone. However, when they are home alone it’s important that they know how  to remain safe, who to call in case of emergency or what to do at any situation. Although 911 is the perfect number your children  should call in an emergency, it’s important to know more. Follow these helpful tips to teach your kids about home security.

  1. Security Alarm Basics – Begin by teaching them how your specific alarm systems works, and how to turn it off. Also teach your child what can trigger the alarms from going off. It’s also important to go over how they can use the alarms to warn neighbors or anyone else in the area if a problem occurs. A cool way to keep your kids safe is to create a family safe code, one that you can only know and they can use if they are ever a stranger comes to the door.
  2. Don’t Open the Door to Strangers – It’s important that young children know to never open the door to anyone else other than mom and dad, unless specified. If your home doorbell rings, and you’re not home, it’s better to let your kids know who they can let into your home when you’re not there. Also remind them to not leave any windows open, making sure all doors are safely locked.
  3. Security Passwords – Teaching your kids to be the only one, besides you, who can know the passwords to the security system or their email and social media accounts. Remind them that giving it out their passwords to others can have serious consequences.
  4. Security Cameras – Remind your children that security cameras are strictly for security purposes and not playtime. For example, they should know what unwanted events they should watch out for. If you have security cameras installed, teaching them the difference is vital to their safety.
  5. Fire Prevention – Teaching fire prevention to your kids can help them when it comes to their safety. They should know the dangers of using  lighters or matches. In addition children should be taught not to use the stove or oven unless you’re at home. It’s also important to go over a fire escape plan that includes dropping to the floor or having a cloth over the mouth to avoid inhalation of smoke. You can also teach them how to use an extinguisher if the child is old enough.

SAFETY TIP OF THE DAY

SPONSORED BY WAYNE ALARM AND HONEYWELL.

Your house is at a perfect temperature. You’re enjoying a nice movie under some blankets and comfortably cuddled on the couch. The very last thing any of us wants to do is to get up from our comfy spot just to adjust the temperature, enough to where it’s not overwhelming throughout the night.

However, wouldn’t you enjoy a thermostat that catered to your preferences and can still be controlled through your Total Connect app on your phone or your computer?

Honeywell is known to have the best thermostats in the  industry for a couple of decades. More recently they have switched to devices that are specifically tailored to smart homes. This gives you just the perfect amount of comfort in a safer way. With the newest adaptive intelligent recovery technology, a z-wave enabled thermostat, can reduce your monthly energy bills dramatically. This feature allows you to “learn” how long it takes for the furnace and/or air conditioner to reach its programmed settings, detecting when to reach it at a specific time! The z-wave enabled technology can provide a cost savings at approximately 33% of your annual heating and cooling costs. In the long run, the system basically pays for itself and provides  you with the ultimate temperature comfort.

Features like creating a keypad lockout for homes and businesses — keeping unauthorized personnel from changing the temperature — allow you to keep the comfort in your home or business a little easier. It also includes temperature settings which can be altered depending the temperature in your home or business, and even providing you with an alert reminder to keep up on maintenance. For instance an alert to change air filters and humidifier/dehumidifier filters, which only maximize performance can be handy. Wayne Alarm: Video can help reduce thefts

SAFETY TIP OF THE DAY

SPONSORED BY WAYNE ALARM AND HONEYWELL.

In any business, there is always that inevitable problem: theft.

Some data suggest surveillance of employees in small business can boost productivity and profits. Allowing you to stay in control of dishonest claims, maintain the safety in your work environment and allowing you, as the manager, to spend more time in more productive ways. Using video surveillance is an effective method for putting a stop to thieves from stealing your belongings, wares or information. In any event, it can also help alert the police, as well as provide footage, which can help aid in identifying the thieves.

With lots of options you can take to reduce theft, however, having video surveillance saves you time and effort all while helping you decrease theft in your store. With Wayne Alarm video surveillance, you get 24/7 video surveillance specifically for your business.

In specific places, you increase your overall security that can oftentimes be overlooked. Here are some places where placing video surveillance in your store could be beneficial:

  • Front and back doors:  Not only are you able to identify who comes in and out of your business and when they leave, but it also helps when your business is closed. Having a monitored entrance system can detect any suspicious event during off  hours. Specifically your stores back entrance – placing it here can help deter anyone attempting to exit unnoticed. It can also help with any blind spots that might be hard to view, allowing you to be aware of any suspicious event.
  • Installing cameras in areas where your most valuable items or expensive equipment are, can help diminish losses. For example, placing a camera by the cash register can allow them to work more effectively by giving you a view from above, allowing you to directly monitor any exchange of cash, both limiting employee and customer theft.

With video surveillance, you’re also able to ensure to your customers that you care about their safety and well being too. Call us for a free consultation today and speak with a caring representative.

SAFETY TIP OF THE DAY

SPONSORED BY WAYNE ALARM AND HONEYWELL.

Ever wondered if you can get somewhere faster by taking a different route, using shortcuts? Ever wanted to have a device that helps you get to your destination without all the terrible traffic? Having a real-time GPS to provide you with that information is much easier and let’s you drive without the stress.

GPS technology has advanced  more in the past few years to GPS on your phone, to having a GPS on your dog’s collar, to being able to use it in your car. It’s unsafe to constantly look down on your phone while driving to make sure you’re heading to the right place. As a bonus, GPS systems usually have a wider range of coverage which gives you accurate representations. Several other benefits include a decrease fuel consumption and a reduction in speeding. It’s almost essential now, and whether you’re worried about burglaries or want to keep an eye on who uses your car, Wayne Alarm’s GPS tracking ensures you know what’s going on at all times.

So how does it inform you at all times?

With specifically customized notifications that are made with your preferences, the total connect app gives you the ability to stay in complete control. For example, say your teenager wants to take the car for a night out with friends? You’re more than willing to, but then you begin to worry. With the app you’re to get alerts whenever your vehicle exceed speed limits or predetermined geographic boundaries. The notifications all identify where your car is, how fast it’s going, or even if it’s outside your predetermined boundaries. You’ll know what’s going on in your car, at all times.
