The St. Mary’s boys tennis team swept St. Joseph’s, 5-0, on the road on Monday.
Playing eight-game pro sets, first singles Brady Ryan won, 8-3, No. 2 Matt McManus won, 8-1, and No. 3 Conor Foley won, 8-3.
At doubles, the team of Jonah Lezama and Jimoh George won, 8-5, and Jolsson Rodriguez and Tyler Devine won, 8-3.
The Spartans (8-0) will face a huge test coming up this week, as they face rival Austin Prep in back-to-back matches, on the road on Tuesday (weather permitting) and at home on Wednesday.
Beverly 4, Swampscott 1
The Panthers (5-0) kept their record unblemished with a solid win at home against Swampscott on Monday afternoon. Dylan LeBlanc got the win in second singles, 7-6, 6-1, while Michael Silveira swept third singles. In doubles play, the team of Colin Oliver and Frederico Pomcini took the first match, 6-0, 6-2, and the team of Skyler Crean and Kyle Martin battled for a win in the second match, 3-6, 6-0, 7-6.
The lone winner for Swampscott (2-3) was Matt Jacobs in first singles, 6-1, 6-0.
St. John’s Prep 5, Malden Catholic 0
The undefeated Eagles (4-0) got singles wins from Scott Riester, 6-1, 6-3, Mikey Prokopis, 6-0, 6-0, and Evan Maguire, 6-0, 6-0. In doubles play, the team of Nick Salacci and David Cunningham won the first match, 6-1, 6-0, and the team of Jacob Salacci and Amal Raisingani won the second match, 6-2, 6-2. The Eagles will take on another undefeated team, BC High, in a league match on Wednesday afternoon.
Marblehead 5, Lynn English 0
The Magicians swept the field on Monday on the road against Lynn English, led by junior captain Justin Faia in first singles, 6-1, 6-1, junior captain Felix Livtak in second singles, 6-2, 6-1, and junior captain Garrett Tully in third singles, 6-3, 7-5.
In doubles play, the team of freshmen Dave Grenader and Dan Livtak won the first match, 6-2, 6-2, and the team of junior captain Sam Orenstein and freshman Billy Ackerman won the second match, 6-0, 6-0.
GIRLS TENNIS
Lynn Classical 5, Saugus 0
The Rams (7-1) got dominating singles wins across the board on Monday, with No. 1 Anna Athanasopoulos and No. 3 Lizzie Troisi each winning their respective matches, 6-0, 6-0, while No. 2 Meredith MacDonald won her match, 6-0, 6-1.
In doubles play, the team of Shea Dunnigan and Briana Silva won the first match, 6-0, 6-1, and the team of Ashley Noel and Zoe Raymond won the second match, 6-1, 6-1.
Pope John 3, St. Mary’s 2
The St. Mary’s (3-5) doubles teams earned their two wins on Monday at GE Field. Krysta Bertocchi and Jen Watson went three sets, winning the first, 6-4, losing the second, 3-6, and sneaking by in the third set with a 7-6 victory with a 7-4 tiebreaker. Ana De Bernardo and Taylor Hogan won 6-3, 6-4, at second doubles.
Beverly 3, Swampscott 2
The Big Blue (4-3) got wins from Anna Cilley in second singles, 6-3, 6-2, and the team of Sara Cunningham and Lily Sanphy in first doubles, 6-2, 6-3.
