St. Mary’s coach Frank Pagliuca notched his 200th career win Wednesday night.

The Spartans came away with a decisive 7-2 victory over Masconomet on Wednesday night at home, earning St. Mary’s coach Frank Pagliuca his 200th win as a Spartan. Sarah Ryan led the Spartans (6-8-3) with two goals and an assist. Teammates Adara Nazarian and Katie Terban each added a goal and two assists for St. Mary’s.
“I’m fortunate enough to have coached a lot of great players,” said Pagliuca. “I’ve really enjoyed my time at St. Mary’s, and this is a great accomplishment for the program.”
Pagliuca also gave a lot of credit to his assistant coaches and acknowledged their role in the milestone victory.
“I can’t say enough good things about the coaching staff,” he said. “It has been a pleasure to be a part of this experience.”
Algonquin 2, Lynn 0
Despite the loss, the Bulldogs (7-5-1) outshot Algonquin, 32-24, but surrendered an early goal off of a faceoff in the first period, and another off of a wrap-around shot in the third. Goalie Gretchen Howard finished with 22 saves for Lynn.
Arlington Catholic 6, Beverly 1
McKinley Karpa scored the Panthers’ (11-5) lone goal, which was assisted by Anna Hayden.
Marblehead 5, Oakmont 2
Scoring goals for the Magicians were Ally DiGiovanni, Kaitlyn Clarke, Brynne O’Connor, Bella Peters and Sydney Cresta. Marblehead also outshot Oakmont, 38-11.
BOYS’ HOCKEY
Lynnfield 2, Pentucket 2
Jagger Benson struck first for the Pioneers (6-5-3), finding the back of the net at the 11:31 mark in the second period. Teammates George DeRoche and Dan O’Leary were credited with the assists. O’Leary also scored for Lynnfield in the second period at the 14:48 mark. With the tie, the Pioneers remain five points away from a tournament bid.
“(Pentucket) has one of the best goalies in the state, so (the tie) was a tough one to swallow,” said Lynnfield coach Jon Gardner.
St. John’s 5, Austin Prep 0
The Eagles (10-2-3) clinched a tournament berth with a shutout victory over the Cougars. Senior Danny Tighe led St. John’s with two goals, while goalie Kyle Martin recorded his fifth shutout of the season. Danny Lynch, Mitch Shaheen and Josh Cole each scored for the Eagles, as well.
Gloucester 3, Beverly 2
The Fishermen edged the Panthers on the road.
