The Lynn Tech boys cross country team clinched the CAC championship with wins over Essex Tech and Chelsea.

With a clean sweep on Wednesday, the Lynn Tech boys cross country team (8-4, 5-0 CAC) took home the Commonwealth Athletic Conference championship for the second year in a row. The Tigers topped Essex Tech, 21-34, and Chelsea, 24-31.
Edgar Ortega was the top runner for Tech on the day, placing first against Essex Tech and second against Chelsea with a time of 18:28. Brandon Mendez finished second against Essex Tech and fourth against Chelsea with a time of 19:40. Also placing in the top 10 for the Tigers were Rodrigo Mora in seventh place, Jayden Lowe in eighth place and Jose Moral in ninth place.
BOYS CROSS COUNTRY
Pentucket 15, Lynnfield 50
The top finisher for the Pioneers (0-9) was Ryan Iapicca, who finished in eighth place with a time of 16:50. Zach Shone placed 14th (17:40) and Mike Federico finished in 18th place (18:10).
GIRLS CROSS COUNTRY
Chelsea 15, Lynn Tech 50
Essex Tech 15, Lynn Tech 50
The top finishers for the Tigers were Massa Freeman in 12th place (30:32), Gianna Peredina in 13th place (31:02) and Patricia Araujo in 16th place (31:20).
Pentucket 15, Lynnfield 45
The Pioneers (2-7) had three runners place in the top 10, led by Annie Olsen in sixth place (20:37). Eliza Brooks finished right behind in seventh place (21:00), while Elizabeth St. Andre finished in ninth place (21:40).
GIRLS SOCCER
Archbishop Williams 2, Bishop Fenwick 1
The lone goal for Fenwick (6-5-3) was scored by Abbey Rocker. The Crusaders need, at least, one win and one tie in order to qualify for the state tournament with four games remaining in the regular season. They will face off against Newburyport at home on Monday.
Masconomet 3, Lynnfield 0
Lynnfield fell to 9-5-2 with the loss. Junior midfielders Sydney Santusuosso and Katie Mitchell both played well for the Pioneers.
Lynnfield will take on Newburyport at home on Friday afternoon.
Cardinal Spellman 6, St. Mary’s 0
The Spartans (6-8) got solid performances from Jenna Foley, Emily Egan and Casey Fraher.
St. Mary’s will travel to Haverhill on Friday to take on Whittier Tech.
VOLLEYBALL
Peabody 3, Lynn Classical 0
The Tanners improved to 13-1 after a clean sweep of Classical on Wednesday. Melissa Gray led the offensive charge for Peabody with 12 kills, while Hannah Kemp contributed 16 assists along with four aces. Serena Laro and Nene Onwuogu each had five kills, while Joanna Bampi recorded five aces.
Peabody has a big game against a strong Lynnfield team at home this afternoon.
For Classical (7-8), Soneta Srey had five kills, eight digs, three assists and one block. Amanda Thoeun had seven service points and five digs, Lizzie Troisi had five service points and six digs and Maggie McHale had four kills. Pamela Dias had seven service points, Skylar Crayton had two assists and one block, Alytah Noum had five digs, Marymil Gonzalez had two assists and Leyani Anderson had one block.
The Rams will be back in action tomorrow evening when they host Lynn English for Senior Night.
Northeast 3, Lynn Tech 1
The Tigers (1-15) celebrated Senior Night to end their season on Wednesday, putting together an extremely competitive match. After dropping the first set 21-25, the Tigers rallied back to win the second set 25-23. Tech continued to battle hard over the final two sets, but eventually dropped them 22-25 and 11-25.
GOLF
Beverly 51, Peabody 21
Despite the loss for Peabody (4-11), coach Peter Cronan was happy with the way his team played.
“All the guys played really hard out there today, we just ran into a great Beverly team,” he said.
The Tanners are back in action this afternoon when they host Revere at The Meadow.
Swampscott 37, Danvers 35
The Big Blue notched a close victory at Tedesco Country Club on Wednesday, with three winners on the day. Adam Dishman and David Peterson each won their matches 6-3, while Steve Santaniello won his match 5 1/2-3 1/2. Jake Goldman tied his match 4 1/2-4 1/2.
Swampscott (10-5) has a quick turnaround with a match against Saugus at Cedar Glen Golf Club this afternoon.
