The Lynn Jets battled hard against Salem and came away with a 12-10 win at home on Monday.
Lynn coach Peter Pappagianopoulos said that he felt this is the best his team has played all season.
“Everything came together today, it was just a well-played game,” he said. “We battled for every ground ball, we finished opportunities, we battled for everything. I’m very proud of the team.”
Nicky Duong had a great day offensively for Lynn (3-6), scoring five goals and notching an assist. Ryan Clark scored three goals and had two assists, and Jack Stafford logged three assists and scored a goal. Quinn Brinkler had a goal and an assist, and Matt Moorehouse and Michael Clougherty each found the back of the net as well.
Swampscott 10, Winthrop 2
Andrew Dove, Brendan Laundry and Nick Kersten each tallied a goal and three assists in the win for the Big Blue (5-3), and Jack Herlihy, Jake Baldwin and Noah Levine all found the back of the net as well. Goalie Perry Grzela earned his first win of the season in net, making nine saves.
GIRLS LACROSSE
Bishop Fenwick 19, Marian 2
The scoring leader on the day for the Crusaders was Merry Harrington, who finished with six goals and three assists. Colleen Corcoran had five goals and one assist, Hannah Durkin had four goals, two assists, while Brigid Waldron (two goals, one assist) and Molly Camelo (one goal, two assists) each notched three points. Tori Hernandez had one goal and one assist. On the defensive end, Melissa Mackenzie had a great game and goalie Meghan Woodworth had five saves in the win.
SOFTBALL
Saugus 7, Danvers 0
Brooke Westmoreland had a great all-around day for the Sachems (3-3), getting the shutout win on the mound, going seven innings and allowing just five hits and striking out three, while also going 1-for-3 with an RBI at the plate. Pauline Ascolese went 2-for-3 with a homerun and two RBI, while Alex Almquist went 2-for-2 with a RBI and Shannon Gayron had one hit and a RBI.
Arlington Catholic 6, Bishop Fenwick 4 (9 inn.)
Fenwick freshman Alexcea Glynos took the loss, but was very solid for the Crusaders, pitching all nine innings She allowed seven hits and fanning 14. Four errors did in Fenwick, which falls to 3-4 on the season and 0-3 in the Catholic Central League.
Lynn’s Rachel Fisher went 2-for-4 with a RBI, and Julia Fusco had two hits and drove in a run for Fenwick.
Peabody 4, Winthrop 1
The Tanners were led by Tianna Dawe, who made an impact at the plate and on the mound. Dawe went 2-for-4 with a double, a home run and an RBI, and also tossed a complete-game five-hitter on the mound, giving up just one run and striking out four.
Amanda Crawford went 3-for-4 with a double, a homerun and three RBI, while Alyssa Alpern also contributed with a 3-for-3 day.
Rockport 16, Lynnfield 6
The Pioneers couldn’t contain the Rockport offense, but a few Lynnfield players had strong games at the plate. Leigh Guerra went 4-for-4 with a run scored and RBI and Rachel Badger went 2-for-4 with two runs and a RBI.
Beverly 10, Swampscott 7
Beverly 10, Swampscott 7
Beverly’s Marlee Hamor, who went 2-for-4, and Cori Coults each hit a homerun in the win. Hamor also scored two runs, while Coults had two RBI. Julia Pitman was 2-for-5 with two RBI and a run scored, and Olivia George went 2-for-4 with two RBI and two runs scored.
For Swampscott, Olivia Cooke had three hits, including a home run and a double, scored three runs and drove in two. Katie Watts went 1-for-2 with a double.
