The Lynn English girls basketball team’s offense was hot Monday night, as the Bulldogs put up 70 points in a 70-52 victory over Medford at home.
Ely Guity led the way for English with 20 points, eight assists and three steals. Rachel Calnan added 10 points and eight rebounds. Coach Mackenzie Charles credited his defense with a great overall team effort as the Bulldogs improved to 5-7.
Saugus 52, Somerville 26
The Sachems (11-4) rolled past Somerville on the road as Alessia Salzillo put up 13 points. Krissy Italiano scored 10 points and Olivia Valente chipped in with eight.
BOYS BASKETBALL
Peabody 64, Essex Tech 49
The Tanners clinched a spot in the tournament with their 10th win. Moisse Irizarry was the high-scorer with 17 points, adding seven rebounds. Jake Irvine and Chris Canela added 13 points apiece.
“This is a goal for the program, so we’re excited,” Peabody coach Thad Broughton said. “I hope we continue to play good basketball.”
