The Bishop Fenwick girls soccer team got goals from three different players as the Crusaders defeated Arlington Catholic, 3-1, in a home game on Wednesday afternoon. Abbey Rocker scored the first goal for Fenwick (6-3-2), while Ally Charette and Lauren Baker also added goals.
The Crusaders will have a day off before facing off against Notre Dame Academy of Hingham at home tomorrow afternoon.
BOYS SOCCER
St. Mary’s 1, Austin Prep 1
The Spartans almost walked away with a win on Wednesday, but the Cougars scored a late goal on a penalty kick to force the tie. The lone goal for St. Mary’s (8-3-2) came from Nolan Perez on a great assist from Olu George with two minutes left in the first half.
The Spartans are back in action on Saturday afternoon when they go on the road to face North Reading.
St. John’s Prep 4, Xaverian 1
The Eagles (7-4-2, 6-0-1) remained undefeated in the Catholic Conference with a win over Xaverian on Wednesday. Junior Brian Brennan notched a goal and two assists to lead St. John’s, while junior Mitch Collins and seniors Aiden Dooley and Tony Najim scored one goal each.
The Eagles will try to continue their strong conference play on Saturday when they host BC High.
Chelsea 3, Lynn Tech 1
The Tigers (3-3-4) got a goal from Christian Irias on an assist from Pedro Rivas. Tech will play tomorrow afternoon at home against Greater Lawrence.
GOLF
Arlington Catholic 159, St. Mary’s 157
St. Mary’s (14-3) dropped a close match at Winchester Country Club on Wednesday. Max Emmerich led the way with 27 points, while Andrew Kreamer contributed 26 points.
The Spartans are right back in action this afternoon with a road match against Austin Prep at Mount Hood Golf Club in Melrose.
Salem 38, Lynn Classical 34
The Witches improved to 6-8-1 with a close win on Wednesday. Nick Angeramo won his match 6-3, while Tom Harrington won his match 7-2 and Wes Schaejbe won his match 5 1/2-3 1/2. Andrew McRae won his match 5-4 and Clayton Duffin won his match 5 1/2-3 1/2. Salem will play again this afternoon against Swampscott.
For Classical (6-8-1), Travis Ryan won his match 5-4. Jake Hickenbottom won his match 6 1/2-2 1/2, Brett Bucklin won his match 6-3 and Mike Tarasuik tied his match 4 1/2-4 1/2. The Rams will play against Lynn English this afternoon at Gannon Golf Course.

Greater Lowell 24, Lynn Tech 31
Lynn Tech 16, Mystic Valley 39
The Tigers took two of the top three spots overall in the tri-meet on Wednesday, with Edgar Ortega finishing in second place (19:55) and Brendan Mendez finishing in third place (20:18). Rodrigo Mora finished in seventh place (21:11), Jose Moral finished in 10th place (21:45) and Jayden Lowe finished in 12th place (22:26).
GIRLS CROSS COUNTRY
Greater Lowell 15, Lynn Tech 50
Mystic Valley 15, Lynn Tech 50
Despite falling in both races due to limited runners, the Tigers still got some good finishes on Wednesday afternoon. Patricia Araujo finished in ninth place with a time of 31:08, while Jaden Thackson finished in 11th place with a time of 33:21. Massa Freeman finished in 12th place (33:22) and Gianna Peredina finished in 16th place (34:41).
