The Classical boys soccer team finished off a 3-0-0 week, and raised its record overall to 4-4-1, with a 5-0 victory over Saugus.
Classical had five different scorers in this one: Albin Asani, Gabe Novoa, Pa Sowe (his 10th of the season), Tyler Way and Kevin Molina.
“It was a nice win,” said coach Dominick Steadman. “We had three sophomores and two seniors score. I let some of the younger guys play once we got up and they did well. It’s always nice getting them involved.”
Revere 1, Swampscott 0
At Swampscott, the Patriots kept Big Blue goalkeeper Kevin Coffey busy, as he had to hustle to make seven saves.
“The Revere boys are very talented,” said Big Blue coach Eric Robinson, whose team is now 7-2. “That is a good team.”
Peabody 3, Salem 0
At Salem, Austin Silva gave the 2-4-1 Tanners a 1-0 lead in the first half, and thien Lucas Amaral and Johnny Alves scored in the final 40 minutes.
“Hopefully we’re turning things around,” said Peabody coach Stan McKeen. “I give us credit. Three of our four starting defenders are hurt, and the kids who filled in did a good job.”
Concord Carlisle 2, St. Mary’s 1
At Concord, despite the loss, Spartan coach Mike D’Agostino was pleased with his team’s effort against the state’s No. 5 team.
After a scoreless half, the Minutemen got the first goal with 15 minutes left in the game. However, Spartan senior captain Christian Couillard redirected Thiago De Oliveira’s corner kick five minutes later to tie the score up. However, C-C got the game-winner with only 40 seconds left.
“Christian played an amazing game for us on defense as did Olu George,” said D’Agostino.
He also credited Nolan Perez and Chris Garcia for playing well.
The 6-3 Spartans are at Fenwick Monday (7).
Gloucester 2, English 0
At Gloucester, the Bulldogs (3-6) did everything except score goals, said coach Kerry King.
“We played well,” he said. “We passed the ball real well, and we possessed the ball for good portions of the game. But we just couldn’t find the net. We’re really struggling to finish.”
Gloucester scored on a free kick in the 20th minute and then got some insurance in the 78th minute as English was sending people into the Fishermen’s zone in attempts to tie the game up.
GIRLS SOCCER
Saugus 4, Lynn Classical 1
Olivia Valente scored twice and Allie Kotkowski and Rachel Nazzaro each goals for the Sachems.
Saugus coach Chris Coviello was also pleased with the play of Kiley Ronan, Olivia Tapia-Gately, Alli LeBlanc, Aryana Carney and Marisa McClellan. The Sachems (5-2) will take on Danvers Thursday.
Classical coach Bob Burns says that while it wasn’t his team’s best game, his players “left it all out on the field.”
Sydney Spiess scored off a free kick from Rachel Jordan to get the Rams on the board. Noemi Escobar, Devyn Astuccio, Alaina Gridley, Julia Jordan and Liv Pedro all played strong games for Classical.
The road ahead doesn’t get any easier for the Rams, as they take on Marblehead Wednesday.
Swampscott 5, Revere 0
In Revere, the Big Blue shut down the Patriots, with Michela Agresti leading the offensive charge with two goals. Maggie DiGrande, Ellie Lightfoot and Kendra Fitzgerald each added a goal as well. The Big Blue remain undefeated at 5-0-1.
Danvers 8, Winthrop 2
At Danvers, the Falcons got offense from six different players, with Hannah Lejeune and Sarah Unczur each scoring two goals. Danvers’ (5-2) other goals came from Teagan Gilliss, Abby Cash, Sarah McCarriston and Riley Baker.
“I know Winthrop is going through a lot of injuries,” Danvers coach Jimmy Hinchion said. “I’m happy with the way we moved the ball. I wanted us to try and possess as much as we could.”
Peabody 7, Salem 0
At Peabody, Marissa Orlando scored twice, with singles coming from Emily Nelson (who also had an assist), Kirsten Bradley, Jillian Arigo, Katie Wallace and Chloe Gizzi.
Brianna Gaynor had an assist for the 6-0-1 Tanners. Also playing well, according to coach Dennis Desroches, were Katherine Scacchi, Alyssa Shashaty, Catherine Manning and Ali Demeo. Keeper Rebecca Sabino had three saves.

VOLLEYBALL
Fenwick 3, Hamilton-Wenham 0
The Crusaders swept in straight sets, 25-15, 25-17 and 25-12. Camille Tache, Joie Dillon and Steph Bona all played well defensively for Fenwick, and Molly Camelo came up with 13 kills. The Crusaders take on rival St. Mary’s Tuesday at home.
Swampscott 3, Ipswich 0
At Swampscott, the Big Blue snapped a five-match losing, with the scores being 25-10, 27-25 and 25-14.
Senior middle blocker Taylor McBurney had three serving Aces, six kills and four blocks,Outside hitter Leanne Nisbet contributed with one and four kills, while freshman setter Cassidy Ryan had eight aces and 14 assists.
“This was a good win for the team and we are hoping it gets us back on track for our season goals,” said Big Blue coach Chip Emery.
Swampscott is now 4-5.
FIELD HOCKEY
Danvers 3, Peabody 0
At Danvers in the rain, the Tanners lost star player Mallory LeBlanc in the early part of the game to injury, yet the team stayed strong, according to coach Pam Grant.
Taylor Colella played center mid and was outstanding. Gianna DeNisco was great at back with awesome stick work & string hits, and Sofia Rodriguez played well in goal.
Lynnfield 4, Amesbury 0
The Pioneers remained undefeated with a convincing win at home. Jaylin Grabau scored the first and third goals for Lynnfield, and Elise Murphy added two goals as well. Lilli Patterson logged two assists, and Kathleen Hamm assisted on the final goal.
All 21 players got in the game for the Pioneers, and coach Mamie Reardon says they all contributed to the victory. Lynnfield was also strong on defense, with Isabella Floramo, Patterson and Marianne Olivieri leading the way, feeding the forwards throughout the game.
