Marblehead lacrosse’s Caroline Driscoll notched her 100th career goal in a six-goal, one-assist performance at home on Monday to lead the Magicians (16-1, 10-0 NEC) to a Northeastern Conference win over Danvers, 15-10. Driscoll is the second member of the team to hit the 100-goal mark, with Hadley Carlton scoring her 100th goal on May 6 against Austin Prep.
Carlton and Grace Arthur each finished with three goals and one assist. Amanda Gregory had one goal and two assists, Corinne Mayle had one goal and one assist and Lydia Bongiorno had one goal. Niamh Healy and Lucie Poulin notched one assist each.
Goalie Brittany Lydon finished with 12 saves in the win.
GIRLS LACROSSE
Fenwick 14, Arlington Catholic 4
The Crusaders (12-2) were led by Merry Harrington’s five goals on Monday. Tori Hernandez scored four goals, while Colleen Corcoran had three. Molly Camelo and Brigid Waldron each scored one goal.
SOFTBALL
Beverly 10, Classical 7
Beverly’s Natalie Stilwell went 2-for-3, driving in two and grabbing the win in the circle, striking out five. Olivia George went 2-for-4 with a triple and two-RBI single for Beverly (8-8), and Ally Cabral went 2-for-3 with a triple and scored three runs.
For Classical (8-7), Emma DeJoie went 1-for-4 with three RBI and Alaina Gridley went 3-for-4.
Marblehead 3, Gloucester 0
At Gloucester, on “the windiest day I can ever remember,” according to Magicians coach Jon Gold, Charlotte Plakans pitched a one-hitter, striking out nine. She also hit a double that knocked in one of the three Marblehead runs. Her courtesy runner, Olivia Fusegni, scored another run on Sabrina Doughman’s single. Montana Joyce scored the third run on a passed ball.
Marblehead, 12-2, is home against Saugus Wednesday.
Saugus 29, Salem 1 (F/5)
For the first time in four years, the Saugus Sachems will be in the state softball tournament.
With a win on Monday afternoon, Saugus (10-5) earned a tournament berth with a massive flurry of hitting.
Mikayla Niles went 3-for-4 with a grand slam and five RBI, Alex Almquist went 3-for-4 with four RBI, Caity Sheehan went 1-for-4 with a three-run home run and Tori Beauchamp went 2-for-2 with two RBI.
On the mound, Brooke Westmoreland went the distance and earned her eighth win of the season, giving up one run on one hit with six strikeouts and no walks.
Swampscott 8, Winthrop 2
Led by pitcher Riley Lord (two runs on six hits in seven innings pitched), the Big Blue improved to 10-5 on Monday. On offense, Hannah Leahy led the way, going 2-for-5 with a solo home run and a double.
Peabody 18, English 6 (F/6)
The Tanners (8-7) were led by Kelsie Blake (3-for-4, two doubles, triple, 3 RBI) and Makala Iannalfo (3-for-4, two RBI).
Arlington Catholic 6, Fenwick 3
Junior Julia Fusco went 3-for-4 with a triple and two runs scored, while Lucianna Mastromatteo went 2-for-4 with two RBI.
