The Lynn Woods Summer Cross Country series kicked off for its 47th year Wednesday, welcoming a record 250 finishers.
In the 1.59-mile kids race, Lynn’s Katherine Clancy paced the pack (13 minutes, 51 seconds), followed by Peabody’s Ruthie Epple (14:27), Swampscott’s Matthew Fukuda (14:35) and Lynn’s Trent Brown (15:16) and Ian Brown (16:35). Abigail Morris finished third for the girls (16:43), followed by Lynn’s Lydia Calderan (18:25) and Piper Testa (19:09). For the boys, Lynn’s Kevin Smart (16:48) and Chris Wilson (16:51) rounded out the top five.
In the 2.3-mile goat path race, Saugus’ Evan Covell (14:00) led the group, followed by Timothy Moniz (Topsfield, 16:36), Jonathan Nop (Lynn, 16:49), Ryan Miles (Groveland, 17:56) and John Hackett (Peabody, 18:50). For the women, Lynn’s Miki Divirgilio (17:36) finished first, followed by Andrea Saccardo (Peabody, 18:12), Christina Canizaro (Peabody, 19:02), Molly Mannion (Lynn, 19:05) and Jen Conway (Salem, 19:19).
In the 5.1-mile race, Woburn’s Chris Smith finished first (31:57) with Salem’s Patrick Joy (32:41) close behind. Nakri Dao (Lynn, 33:41), William Jackson (Salem, 33:55) and Jim Pawlicki (Lynn, 33:59) completed the top five.
Peabody’s Akianna Maida (37:23) led the women, followed by Maura O’Day (Salem, 38:25), Erin Hickey-Reardon (Reading, 39:21), Emma McGuirk (Marblehead, 41:01) and Abby Bent (Salem, 41:47).
The summer XC series runs every Wednesday through September 28.
