In a great back-and-forth game, the Peabody girls lacrosse team held off the Big Blue, 7-5, on the Tanners’ senior night.
“Fortunately, we came up with the stops and the loose balls late,” said Peabody coach Dennis Desroches.
Emma Rigol led Peabody with four points. Amanda Bradley and Kirsten Bradley each logged three points.
Alyssa Shashaty, Michaela Jacks, Praycelia Porcher and Ali Carney played great defense and were strong in transition for the Tanners, who improve to 13-4.
Marblehead 17, Beverly 8
The Magicians faced a tough test in one of their toughest Northeastern Conference opponents, but had no trouble maintaining their undefeated record in the NEC.
Lydia Bongiorno had a great day for Marblehead (18-1, 12-0 NEC), scoring five goals and logging an assist. Grace Arthur scored four goals and had an assist, as did Hadley Carlton. Caroline Driscoll scored three goals and won five draw controls. Amanda Gregory was a playmaker with four assists, and Corinne Mayle scored a goal, added an assist and picked up three ground balls.
Lucie Poulin added an assist, picked up three ground balls and won three draw controls. Caroline Arthur caused a turnover and picked up three ground balls, and Niamh Healy logged an assist. Goalie Brittany Lydon made 16 saves and picked up three interceptions.
Framingham 17, Bishop Fenwick 10
The Flyers handed the Crusaders just their third loss of the season, dropping Fenwick to 13-3. Merry Harrington led the way for Fenwick with four goals and one assist. Molly Camelo scored three times, Colleen Corcoran had two goals and two assists and Tori Hernandez scored once.
Revere 10, Salem 7
The Patriots improved to 7-12 with a win on the road.
BOYS LACROSSE
Marblehead 11, Winchester 10
The Magicians kept Winchester at bay during a tight game to improve to 8-9. Andy Clough, Sam Paquette and Drew Cioffi each netted three goals for Marblehead. Sam Cioffi had a goal and an assist, and Manning Sears added a goal. Neal Murray made 11 saves.
Reading 9, Beverly 3
In a battle between the last two undefeated boys lacrosse teams in the state, the Panthers were knocked out of the unbeaten ranks.
Beverly coach John Pynchon said that the Rockets played stifling defense the entire game, paced by outstanding play from their goalie. The Panthers had their scoring chances, but couldn’t convert.
Sam Abate had a goal and assist for Beverly, while Jordan Rawding and Nick DiLuiso scored the Panthers’ other two goals. Matt Rawding added an assist. Beverly keeper Kevin Flaherty made 12 saves.
Georgetown 16, Bishop Fenwick 14
The Royals overcame a seven-goal deficit to top the visiting Crusaders.
