The Classical girls basketball team continued its strong start to the season, cruising to a 48-28 win over Peabody on the road Friday night.
Soneta Srey and Paris Wilkey each scored 14 points for Classical, while Tyarah Horton had seven points and Irianis Delgado had six points.
Classical will host Revere on Monday evening.
Arlington Catholic 48, St. Mary’s 41
The Spartans fought back from a deficit the entire game before taking a 41-38 lead with 1:47 left, but then Arlington Catholic went on a 10-0 run to close out the game and steal the win.
Gabby Torres, Temi Falayi and Olivia Nazaire each scored 10 points for St. Mary’s.
Revere 50, Beverly 25
In their home opener, the Patriots held a slim, 25-22 lead at the end of the third period, but turned up the heat and put up 25 points in the fourth quarter to top the Panthers.
Pentucket 52, Lynnfield 22
Juliana Passatempo led the way for the Pioneers (0-1) with 11 points, followed by Lizzie Shaievitz with seven points. MacKenzie O’Neill and Emily Dickey each scored two points, while Victoria Morelli and Hannah Filipe came off the bench and played well defensively.
Cathedral 59, Bishop Fenwick 56
Despite falling behind by 14 points after the first quarter, Fenwick was able to rally back to make it a one-point game by the end of the third. Unfortunately, the Crusaders (1-1) couldn’t pull off the win at the end of the back-and-forth fourth quarter.
“We clawed back in this one for sure,” said Fenwick coach Adam DeBaggis. “In the end it came down to Cathedral making a couple more shots.”
Sophomore Sammi Gallant paced the Crusaders with 17 points, followed by senior captain Sam Mancinelli with 13 points and three steals. Junior Fredi DeGuglielmo had 11 points and two steals.
Fenwick will host Cardinal Spellman on Monday.
