The KIPP Academy girls’ basketball team played tight defense and dominated on offense to beat Foxborough Regional Charter, 51-25. The win was a strong comeback for KIPP after losing its first matchup with Foxborough, earlier in the season, by a single point.
Sophomore Nayeli Germosen led KIPP with 24 points, while junior Favour Ofuokwu recorded 10 points. Senior Wrutoe Bonwin and junior Angela Unubun also had excellent performances.
Salem 48, Saugus 25
The Sachems (7-10) made some costly turnovers that led to easy hoops for the Witches, allowing them to take control of the momentum of the game. Krissy Italiano had 11 points, while Olivia Valente recorded 13 rebounds for Saugus.
Swampscott 63, Winthrop 27
The Big Blue (12-3) excelled in sharing the ball, giving up good chances for even better ones to dominate the scoreboard. Swampscott recorded 19 assists on the night. Freshman Faye Parker led the team with 17 points and nine rebounds, while captain Meghan Hartmann had six points and seven assists.
