It was homecoming day at Everett Stadium Saturday and the Crimson Tide made sure they didn’t send everyone home with an empty feeling.
With the school also honoring Vietnam veterans, the football team kept everybody happy, defeating St. John’s Prep, 35-14.
The Tide rushed in to a 28-0 lead before The Prep knew what hit it. Everett got three early touchdown passes from senior captain and quarterback Jordan McAfee and the Crimson Tide never looked back.
Everett got on the board with 3:55 left in the first quarter when Mike Sainristril returned a punt 95 yards for the score. Despite several attempts to get the equalizer, The Prep couldn’t connect on any of its chances.
Before the first half ended, Everett scored twice more, once on a 25-yard scoring pass from McAfee to Anthony Norcia and again on a 12-yarder to Sainristil.
Everett scored again in the third quarter on Chris Jenkins’ 83-yard run, and again in the fourth on McAfee’s third TD pass of the day.
St. John’s got scores from Aise Pream on a 37-yard run and from Chris Burke on a two-yarder.
BOYS SOCCER
St. John’s 1, BC High 1
At BC High, sophomore Sam Smith scored with an assist from junior Mitch Collins as the Eagles moved to 4-1-1 overall and 3-0-1 in the Catholic Conference.
“It was a very good game,” said Prep coach David Crowell. “We had them, but we kind of gave up a bad goal with about 15 minutes left.
“It was good to go on the road against a good BC High team and get a tie, though,” Crowell said. “It was a typical Prep-BC High game.”
