LYNN — Lynn Classical girls soccer coach Bob Burns has resigned, effective immediately, principal Gene Constantino confirmed Friday, citing personal reasons.
Tom Sawyer, the girls basketball coach at the school, coached the Rams’ in their 4-0 loss to Beverly Thursday night and will take the helm for the remainder of the season.
Burns, who was hired last spring to replace Justina Gaeta, who had stepped down, had coached Classical to a 4-8-2 record prior to Thursday night’s loss.
“We appreciate Coach Burns for what he did for Classical and the girls soccer program and wish him well,” said Constantino.
The Rams have four games left in the regular season, beginning today at noon, at Manning Field, against Danvers.
After that, Classical is at home against Peabody Monday, at Revere Wednesday, and at Manning Halloween evening against English.
