In a close contest, the Lynn Jets were able to come out with a big 2-1 win over Shawsheen at home on senior night.
Brian Clougherty scored the first goal of the game, with assists from Jonathan Kosmas and Chris Johnson. The winning goal was scored as the Jets (12-2-1) were short-handed by Kosmas off a beautiful pass from Brett Molea.
“It was a great overall effort from our team, it was a tight game, but we found a way to win,” said Jets coach Joe Conlon.
Swampscott 9, Rockport 1
The Big Blue jumped out to a big lead early and never looked back in a big win over Rockport on Wednesday evening. Captain Pete Doyle (two goals, one assist), Louis Olivieri (one goal, one assist), Steve Santanello (one goal two assists) and Kevin Lombard (one goal, one assist) all scored in the first period to put Swampscott (11-8-0) up 4-0 after one period.
Andrew Dove also scored two goals and added an assist, while Mike Johnson added a goal and an assist. Thomas O’Keefe had four assists, Dante Ceccarelli chipped in with three assists, Jack Poska had two assists and David Peterson recorded one assist.
Late in the game, freshman Zach Elwell scored his first career varsity goal to make the score 9-1.
“We’re starting to play some really good hockey right now,” said Swampscott coach Gino Faia. “We’ve got one last game, a big test against Marblehead, and we’re just going to try to keep this level of play going.”
Peabody 4, Gloucester 4
After pulling its goalie with under a minute remaining in regulation and trailing, 4-3, Peabody’s Ethan LeBlanc registered the game-tying goal with 27 seconds left on the clock. Also scoring for the Tanners (9-4-4) were Nick Merryman, Donnie Shaw and Owen Brewster. Merryman, Shaw, Brewster, Chris Gillen and Tim January also contributed assists for Peabody.
Northeast 6, Salem 2
Zach Fucci and Chris Masta were the goal scorers in the loss for Salem (3-11-1).
Everett 4, Revere 3
The Patriots drop to 6-9-2 with the loss on the road.
GIRLS’ HOCKEY
Masconomet 8, Marblehead 3
Brynne O’Connor, Isabell Amigo and Sydney Cresta all scored goals for the Magicians. O’Connor, Cresta and Hadley Woodfin each contributed assists for Marblehead, as well.
