In a rain-shortened game, the Classical baseball team prevailed over Gloucester, 10-2, at Fraser Field on Wednesday.
In a 13-hit outbreak, the Rams improved to 7-3, beating the Fishermen easily in six innings.
Tyler Way broke out offensively going 3-for-4, scoring two runs, driving in two and stealing two bases. Matt Lauria went 2-for-2 with a run and RBI, and Brandon Devin went 2-for-3 scoring a run and bringing in three RBI.
Freshman David Barnard was on the mound for the Rams, pitching all six innings, allowing one earned run, three walks and striking out five.
Spellman 4, Fenwick 0
JP Reiling (3 hits, 10 strikeouts) was sensational over 10 innings of shutout ball before his exit gave the visiting Cardinals the momentum they needed for a four-run eleventh inning.
“He only walked two batters on 126 pitches; that’s real efficiency,” said coach Kevin Canty, whose Crusaders (7-4, 3-3) had three of the game’s seven total hits.
Danvers 16, Salem 6
All of the Witches’ damage came in the fifth inning, including a bases clearing, three-run double from Sam Ramirez (2-for-3) and a two-run double from Matt Ryan (1-for-2). For the Falcons, Andrew Olszak earned the win, stymying Salem (3-7) over four innings before being taken out with two outs in the taxing fifth.
Beverly 9, Marblehead 0
Winning their fifth straight game, Beverly dominated in all facets, playing against a good Marblehead team and improving to 7-3.
Senior pitcher Rocky Pisa, who is now 3-1, got the start for the Panthers and was lights out, as he threw a complete game, struck out seven batters, and allowed three hits.
The bats stayed hot for the Panthers as they picked up big hits from Nick Cotraro, who had three hits and three RBI, including a two-run single up the first base line. Matt Enos collected two hits, including a two-run single.
Peabody 3, Saugus 1
The Tanners (6-4) were able to hold on in a close game at Saugus playing aggressive baseball, stealing eight bases and getting timely hits.
Pat McGuire got the win on the mound for the Tanners, going four innings, allowing two hits and striking out five. Nick Palma relieved McGuire, pitching two solid innings, allowing one hit and striking out two.
Jake Zeuli had an RBI single, while teammate Ben Irvine scored the game-winning run.
