Lynn’s Greg Ambrose holds up his ball after notching a hole-in-one on the sixth hole at Gannon Golf Course on Thursday.
LYNN — Greg Ambrose waited a long time for that second hole-in-one.
The first one occurred when his daughter, Carolyn, was three years old. She’ll be 31 next month.
Ambrose, who is the retired proprietor of Ambrose Insurance Agency in Lynn, was playing in a league at Gannon Golf Course Thursday in a foursome with Ed Kennedy, Paul Allen and Tom Dill.
He hit a six-hybrid off the 186-yard sixth tee and hoped for the best.
“The preferred play is if you’re going to miss (the green), miss right so it can bounce back onto the green.”
However, Ambrose hit “a nice shot in the air that landed about 50 yards from the hole and rolled in.”
He says others in the foursome were more consistent Thursday than he was.
“But,” he said, “I got the hole-in-one.”
