SAUGUS — Police said a 25-year-old Swampscott man was killed Saturday evening when the dirt bike he was riding collided with a vehicle. Police Chief Domenic J. DiMella in a statement released by the Saugus Police Department said the fatal crash occurred at approximately 8:19 p.m. Police on Sunday evening identified the victim as Benjamin Fagundo. Officers responding to Jefferson Avenue at Newcomb Avenue determined the dirt bike collided with a Nissan Pathfinder. The dirt bike’s operator was transported to an area hospital and later pronounced dead. The Pathfinder was occupied by three occupants, including two young children who were transported to an area hospital with non-life threatening injuries. The driver was not hurt. A preliminary investigation determined the dirt bike was unregistered and the driver did not possess a motorcycle license. |
