NAHANT — The days are numbered for restless school children across the North Shore, while others such as the students at Johnson Elementary School celebrated their last day Wednesday.
The school community gathered outside Johnson Elementary School in Nahant to not only say farewell to another school year, but to also send off beloved educator, Marsha White, into retirement.
A representative from each grade stepped to the podium to deliver gratitude to White.
Sam Morse wrote a poem, admiring his teacher’s work during her 25-year tenure.
“Believe in yourself. Easy to say and hard to do,” he said. “Mrs. White believes in us and shows us how to believe too.”
White, who referred to her students as scholars, thanked the school for offering her a place where she was happily greeted every morning where she could truly enjoy herself, she said.
Two bushes were dedicated to White along the school on behalf of the students and teachers.
Like Johnson Elementary, many schools across the North Shore are having their own special celebrations capping off the year.
