North Shore Medical Center Union Hospital Auxiliary presented scholarships to four outstanding high school seniors who have either been accepted to a degree program or to an accredited school of nursing in a health related field.
This year’s recipients were Alexis Bellamah, Brittany Barrows, Christian Couillard, and Dan McCarthy
Alexis Bellamah graduated from Lynn English High School and is planning to attend the School of Nursing at Salem State University. Bellamah’s grandparents are Donna Way from environmental services at Union Hospital, and Debby Green RN, a nurse on West One at Union Hospital.
Brittany Barrows graduated from Lynn English High School and is a member of the National Honor Society. Brittany has been accepted at Endicott College in the Nurse Practitioner Program. Brittany’s grandmother is Andrew Compton RN, who works as a case manager at Union Hospital.
Christian Couillard graduated from St. Mary’s Junior/Senior High School and will be attending the University of Massachusetts Lowell to study Health Sciences. Couillard’s mother is a greeter in the emergency room at Union Hospital.
Dan McCarthy graduated from Burlington High School and is a member of the National Honor Society. McCarthy is also an Eagle Scout with troop 103 in Burlington. He will be attending the University of Vermont to study nursing. Dan’s grandmother is Ann McCarthy RN, who is the former Nurse Manager of the IV Team and the Infusion Center at Union Hospital.
Betsy Gallant, president of the Union Hospital Auxiliary, called the meeting to order, while the scholarships were presented by Mary Kelter, chairman of the scholarship committee.
