DANVERS — A site on Route 1 South has been selected as the new location for a Registry of Motor Vehicles branch, according to a Facebook post from state Rep. Ted Speliotis (D-Danvers).
“Of the six proposed sites, I believe this is the best one,” Spelitois said in the Monday afternoon post.
Since summer 2016, the state had been looking for a replacement for the branch at the Liberty Tree Mall in Danvers. The state shuttered the location due to the extensive work needed to upgrade heating, cooling and ventilation systems.
State Rep. Thomas Walsh (D-Peabody) had made a push for one of two sites in his city; two were considered. A second site in Danvers, as well as one in Beverly and Wakefield, were considered as well.
