LYNN — Police responding to a reported shooting at the Washington Street Baptist Church on Monday morning said the man had not been shot after all.
While the Martin Luther King Jr. Day of Service was going on at the church, which is next door to the Lynn Police Station, a 24-year-old man walked in around 11:30 a.m., collapsed on the floor and rolled around, saying he had been shot by police, Lynn Police Lt. Rick Donnelly said.
Donnelly said police quickly determined that the man had not been shot, and he agreed to go the hospital for a psychological evaluation. He was taken by ambulance to Union Hospital for a mental health issue.
