Assaults
A report of an assault at 1:26 a.m. Sunday on Pleasant Street. A caller reported someone was outside his home who wanted to assault him. Police reported there was a disturbance at The Tavern in Salem, and the incident reoccured in Marblehead, first as a joking around incident, but then escalating at the Pleasant Street residence. During the latter aspect of the incident, the assailant was alleged to have shown a rifle across the street from the caller’s house. Police reported the rifle was an air-soft weapon. Jared Neely, 25, of 8 Winthrop St., Salem, was arrested and charged with assault with a dangerous weapon.
Complaints
A report of a man who punched a car window at 4:51 p.m. Friday at School and Pleasant streets. A caller reported he was making a right hand turn on a green light and two men walking in the area yelled at him and pounded on the vehicle’s window.
A report of kids on the pond at 1:31 p.m. Saturday on Marion Road.
A report of someone on the ice with a hockey stick at 4:34 p.m. Saturday on Pond Street
A report of a building check at 6:17 p.m. Saturday on Columbia Road. A caller reported she wasn’t home, but her neighbor called to tell her that her front door was wide open. She wanted police to check it out. Police reported there were footprints around the house, leading into the residence. Police reported securing the home.
A report of suspicious activity at 1:57 a.m. Sunday on Creesy Street. A caller reported a car was driving back and forth in the parking. A man reportedly exited the vehicle wearing dark clothes and possibly a black wind mask and began walking around looking into windows.
Fire
A report of a fire in the oven at 4:58 p.m. Saturday on Sargent Road. The fire was extinguished and the home was ventilated.
Theft
A caller reported a star shower laser light display, valued at $50, was taken from their yard at 3:57 p.m. Friday on Sewall Street.
Police received a report that someone stole Santa at 6:22 p.m. Friday on Johns Road. A caller reported he heard a noise outside and when he looked out, he saw that someone had stolen his 3’ tall plastic Santa from the yard. There was no description of the suspect. Police looked around the neighborhood to see if Santa was dumped somewhere nearby.

The bag was determined safe and contained a blanket, noodles and candy.
