LYNN — A Revere man has been arrested for allegedly carjacking three teens on Tuesday.
Three Lynn male teens, two 18-year-olds and a 16-year-old, were sitting in a gray Toyota Camry at about 12:30 a.m. when a white U-Haul van pulled up with two men inside. The suspect, Jordan Catanzaro, 24, of Revere, got out of the vehicle and displayed a handgun, while the driver stayed inside, Lynn Police Lt. Rick Donnelly said.
Catanzaro allegedly ordered the three victims out of their vehicle, demanding their possessions and going through their pockets. He fled with two iPhones and their car, with the U-Haul truck following the Camry, Donnelly said.
Police gave the description of the vehicle over the radio to surrounding departments, leading Salem Police to stop the U-Haul van at about 2:30 am. Salem told Lynn Police that they had the vehicle and the two men matching the description given over the radio, Donnelly said.
Lynn Police officers took two of the victims to the location where the van was stopped. The passenger was Catanzaro, who was positively identified by the victims, and arrested, Donnelly said.
Catanzaro was charged with armed carjacking, armed robbery and assault with a dangerous weapon.
The man who was driving in Salem is a suspect and the incident remains under investigation. Police said the suspect is a black man with a short buzz cut hair style, Donnelly said.
The van was towed to the police station and was inventoried following the execution of a search warrant. A handgun was discovered inside. The Camry was found abandoned at 8:10 a.m. on Normandy Road, Donnelly said.
