The man wanted in last Saturday’s double murder in Peabody carjacked a driver in Middleton Wednesday night and drove to Boston, police said.
Wes Doughty, 39, is wanted in the killing of Mark Greenlaw, 37, and Jennifer O’Connor, 39. The couple’s bodies were discovered Saturday night in a home at 19 Farm Ave.
Doughty allegedly carjacked a man in the parking lot of Hailey’s Restaurant & Pub on South Main Street, according to Middleton Police Department Sgt. Matthew Armitage. Armed with a knife, he restrained the driver with a seatbelt. About three hours later, the victim escaped and sought help after the suspect entered a liquor store on Tremont Street in Boston.
Investigating officers showed the victim photos of possible assailants and the man identified Doughty as the carjacker, Armitage said.
Doughty may be driving a gray 2006 Honda Accord four-door sedan with Massachusetts license plate 7KLY80, state police said.
Essex County District Attorney Jonathan Blodgett said Doughty remains at large. He warned the public that Doughty, who is considered to be armed and dangerous, should not be approached. If anyone sees Doughty or knows his whereabouts, they are asked to call 911 or the Massachusetts State Police immediately at 1-800-KAPTURE (527-8873).
