MARBLEHEAD — Police are trying to identify the man who broke into the Richdale Convenience Store on Smith Street Tuesday.
Marblehead Police received a burglary alarm from the store just before midnight.
“Responding patrol officers discovered the store had been entered, items taken and a display rack had been knocked over,” police said in a statement. “No damage was noted to the doors and officers and the store owner believe it’s possible the suspect may have hid in the store prior to closing, although it is only a theory at this point.”
A witness reported seeing a man running from the building when the alarm went off. The incident is under investigation and an inventory of the items stolen is being compiled, police said.
Anyone with any information on the incident can call Marblehead Police at 781-631-1212.
