LYNN — It took a while to find, but Lynn Community Television (LCTV) has a new home.
On the first of March, the city’s cable operation will move from tight quarters in City Hall to 4,500 square feet of studio space on Union Street.
“It fits our needs perfectly,” said Robert Tucker, president of the board of directors. “We looked at properties for four months, saw more than a dozen and this is the best.”
The Union Street site was chosen, Tucker said, because it’s on one level, is in the downtown and there’s plenty of parking.
“It’s where we wanted to be and the landlord has been well-established in the city for more than 25 year, that’s major,” he added.
Under the terms of the five-year lease, LCTV will pay The Hall Co. $58,734 annually in rent and can renew in five years. Comcast and Verizon Communications, the city’s two cable companies that operate in Lynn, make payments to the city that pay for the operation of the cable channel.

Richard Coppinger, board treasurer, said he’s very excited about moving to the new address.
“It was time to move out of City Hall and get established in the downtown,” he said. “This caps an exciting year. We are already broadcasting more meetings and shows.”
In addition to broadcasting the city council and school committee meetings, viewers can now watch the Water and Sewer Commission, Board of Appeals and Licensing Commission.
“We’ve really broadened the base of our shows for the Lynn community and that will only improve at our new location,” he said.
Lynn Community Television provides Lynn residents with access to express themselves on TV. Anyone in the community can sign up for a membership, learn how to use the equipment and air content. LCTV is broadcast on Comcast channels 3 and 22 and Verizon channels 37 and 38.
