A large fight reported shortly after 7 p.m. Monday sent police converging on Revere Beach and closed Revere Beach Boulevard an hour later while police dispersed a large crowd.
State Police reported the Boulevard reopened at 9 p.m.
“Troopers and officers have dispersed the disorderly crowd and moved them off the Boulevard. Many boarded the subway and have left the area. The behavior consisted primarily of unruly behavior, fighting and shouting. No injuries have been reported,” State Police spokesman David Procopio said in a statement.
An initial Revere police report and police scanner transmissions confirmed what Procopio subsequently described as “a large unruly crowd” in the bandstand area.
“All our cars are there,” said Police Lt. Amy O’hara.
Chelsea Police were enroute to the scene at 7:30 p.m. with a police dog to disperse the crowd estimated in a transmission as “a couple hundred people.”
Procopio released a State Police statement at 8:30 p.m. that mentioned police efforts to clear the crowd and stated several arrests were made.
