SAUGUS–At the Belmonte Middle School in Saugus, supporters of both state Rep. Donald Wong (R-Saugus) and Democrat Jennifer Migliore were out on display. Dressed in an Uncle Sam costume, former town selectman Arthur Gustafson stumped for Migliore. “I think she’s a hard worker,” said Gustafson, who won his own election in 1965 by 13 votes. “Wong is a fine person but it’s time for change.”
On the other side of the fence at the Belmonte Middle School, state Rep. Donald Wong (R-Saugus) supporters campaigned for a candidate they believe has already done some excellent work. “He’s a good and decent person who has done a great job,” said resident Bob Davis. “A man of integrity, spelled with all capital letters!” added fellow supporter Gene Decareau.
When asked about whether there have been any security disturbances at polling places in Saugus, Sgt. Steven Rapp said that it’s been very quiet so far. “Everyone is on their best behavior,” he said.
