LYNN — When Arthur Brown glanced down at a rubble pile and saw a young woman smiling up at him from a college identification card photograph, he knew he needed to reunite the 39-year-old card with its owner.
“I’d like to give it back to her. I’m sure she would like to see how she looked back then,” the Lynn native said.
The 1977 Babson College student identification bears Jean E. Mathieson’s name and her birthdate: Dec. 9, 1956.

Brown was working last summer on a demolition crew tearing down walls in one of the Wellesley school’s dormitories when the ID dropped out of a wall and onto the floor.
Brown stuffed the card in his pocket and almost forgot about it until he noticed Mathieson’s birthdate printed on it.
“I decided I would try to get the card back to her. It might be a big deal to her,” he said.
Brown, a 1992 Classical High School graduate, said the young face on the plastic laminated card has held his interest. He hopes Mathieson or someone who knows her will reunite the card and the former student in time for her 60th birthday.
“I’d like to know how her life turned out. I hope she’s doing well,” he said.
