LYNN — A bicyclist is in stable condition after riding into a car on Saturday.
The 52-year-old Malden man was riding his bike southbound on Western Avenue. As he approached Washington Street near the credit union, he drove through the intersection and a red light and hit a black Lexus in the right rear door. The 64-year-old Lynn woman driving the Lexus had a green light after traveling west down Washington Street toward Boston Street, Lynn Police Lt. Rick Donnelly said.
After the accident, the woman pulled over and waited on scene. The bicyclist had head trauma and was bleeding profusely. Fire and ambulance personnel also responded and he was taken to Salem Hospital with critical injuries. He was medflighted to Brigham & Women’s Hospital in Boston with a fractured skull, Donnelly said.
The man is conscious, alert and is expected to make a recovery, Donnelly said.
