LYNN — A Lynn man pleaded guilty to manslaughter on Wednesday in connection with the 2014 fatal shooting of 29-year-old Hery Aquino, authorities said.
Jacquan McKenzie, 21, also pleaded guilty to firearms and assault charges in Salem Superior Court. He was sentenced to 12-15 years in state prison, followed by five years of probation, according to the Essex County District Attorney’s office.
McKenzie admitted shooting Aquino on Jan. 12, 2014 in the Curwin Circle Housing Project after a dispute, prosecutors said.
When police responded to the housing project at approximately 1:30 p.m., they found Aquino with a gunshot wound to the head. He died later that night at a Boston hospital.
